Today we remember the 2,977 lives taken on September 11, 2001 — and the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and ordinary people who ran toward the smoke while everyone else ran away.

We remember the families who have carried this for a quarter century, and the first responders still living with what that day cost them.

You do not have to be in shape to come to the gym. That's what the gym is for.

We know our reputation. Bodybuilders, powerlifters, the NPC stage downtown every May. All true, and we're proud of it.

Here's the part that gets left out: most of the people in this building on a Tuesday morning are not competing at anything. They're walking on a treadmill. They're doing three machines and going home. They're 55 and rebuilding after a rough couple of years. They're 22 and have never touched a barbell and are quietly terrified somebody's going to notice.

Nobody's going to notice. And if they do, it's because they want to help.

Come as you are. Go at your own pace. Start with twenty minutes. The room is big enough for all of it — and the people who can bench 400 are, without exception, the friendliest ones in here.

Front desk is closed Monday for Labor Day — but the gym isn't.

Your fob works like any other day. Come and go as you normally would. If you need something from a person, catch us Tuesday.

And since we're going to say it anyway: a three-day weekend is not a three-day break. One session Monday morning, in and out in 45 minutes, and you still have the entire rest of the day. It's the easiest gym day of the whole year — no rush hour, no waiting on a rack, nobody's here.

Enjoy the cookout. Enjoy the day off. Take an hour for yourself somewhere in there.

At a chain, the person who owns your gym has never set foot in your gym.

Here they're Eric and Crista, and you'll meet them within about ten minutes of walking in — because that's where the job is. On the floor. Re-racking something, spotting somebody, wiping down a bench.

That's not a marketing angle; it's just what locally owned actually means in practice. They know the regulars by name. They know who's coming back from an injury and who's been avoiding leg day since March. They notice when somebody's been gone two weeks, and they say something about it.

It's also why things get fixed here. When you tell us a cable's fraying, you're telling the person who can do something about it, standing forty feet away, that day — not filing a ticket that routes to a regional facilities manager in another time zone.

We are excited to announce the winner of our 90 day transformation giveaway Jessica Richardson! We apologize for just now posting the winner. It took some time to arrange schedules to do the initial consult. We had so many applicants “104”which made the decision very difficult. We brought an outside company to help with the decision.
