Arlindo, a Cape Verdean immigrant based in the state of Florida, has been traveling along Interstate 95 (I-95) for nearly 20 years, transporting cargo and packages sent to Cabo Verde by members of the Cape Verdean community in the United States.
His service reaches customers residing in several states along the I-95 corridor, including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, and New York. Every two months, Arlindo makes the long journey from the southern to the northern United States in a rented vehicle. When he is unable to secure cargo for the return trip, he flies back to Florida.
Explaining what motivates him to continue providing this service, Arlindo highlights the relationship of trust he has developed with Atlantic Shipping.
"I particularly enjoy working for Atlantic Shipping because it is a company where I have friends. "It is a reliable business, which is why many people prefer to ship their cargo with them," he explains.
Arlindo believes that his customers are equally satisfied with the service he provides, as they continue to use him on a regular basis.
According to Arlindo, the cargo he collects is destined for almost every island in Cabo Verde. "Normally, these are shipments intended for family members, and in some cases, they consist of household belongings from people who are returning permanently to the country."
