BOXING SETUP. MMA TAKEDOWN. 💥

The 1-1-2 isn’t just for damage, it can open the door for the takedown.

Use the punches to get their hands high, trap the foot, step through to cut the angle, then change levels and drive through.

Strike. Create the reaction. Take the opening.

Take the hook away two different ways—lean back, make it miss, and fire the 2-1-1, or stay right there, block it, and come back with the 3-2.

WINNERS JAB MORE. THE DATA BACKS IT UP.

Research in amateur boxing found that winners used more lead hand punches early in bouts. But volume isn’t everything. Elite winners were also more accurate, landing 33% of their punches vs. 23% for losers.

Establish the jab early. Control distance. Create openings. Land your punches.

At STL Boxing Academy, we build that kind of volume and control into the training. Our $99 membership includes unlimited classes, including multiple Punch Volume classes, plus 24/7 gym access.

If you want to throw more, land more, and build a jab that actually controls the fight, come train with us.

SHOOT YOUR WAY OUT 🔫

Trapped on the ropes? Don’t sit there, shoot your way out.

Use the triple jab to create space, reverse the pressure, and put them on the ropes.

You were trapped. Now they are.

Save this and drill it.

Stop Copying Drills (Steal This Instead)

The goal isn’t to copy every punch in order—it’s to understand what makes it work.

This drill breaks down high-low jabs, creating angles, and defending into counters.

Take the pieces that fit your game, sharpen the mechanics, and build your own combinations from there.

Learn the concept. Build your style.

LAND THE KICK. WIN THE RESET.

Landing the kick is only half the job.

Expect the counter, recover your stance, and get back into position. A clean strike means nothing if your exit leaves you open.

Hit. Recover. Reset. Be ready for what comes back.🥊 Don’t just land the shot—learn how to finish in position. Train with purpose.

Master the Pocket: Inside Boxing Drill

Stay composed under pressure, keep your guard tight, and control the pocket with small slips and shoulder rolls.

Don't step back, own your space and be ready to counter. 🥊

Key Takeaways:

Stay calm inside punching range

Use tight head movement & rolls

Keep defense high to fire back

Try it, drill it, and let me know how it goes in the comments!

YOU’RE SLIPPING WRONG 🎯

Use the stick check to clean up your hip movement and keep your slip tight.

If you rotate too far, you open your body and leave the liver exposed for the counter.

Slip just enough to make the punch miss. Stay balanced. Stay protected. Stay ready to fire back.

2 FIGHTS. 2 WINS. 🥊🔥

Another strong night for STL Boxing Academy.

Logan has only been training with us for 6 months and is already 2-0.

Round 1 brought some of that new-fighter excitement and adversity, but Lo stayed composed, listened to his corner, made the adjustments, and came out in Round 2 ready to work.

Result: 2nd Round STOPPAGE. 💥

That’s what growth looks like. Not being perfect from the opening bell, but being able to listen, adjust, and execute when it matters.

Kenny has been staying ACTIVE, fighting every couple of weeks and continuing to gain valuable experience every time he steps in the ring.

His first round had its own adversity after the fight ahead of us was canceled or moved without us being told, forcing Kenny to get rushed to the ring in the middle of warming up.

He settled in and delivered a dominant performance while staying focused despite constant taunting from the opposing corner.

Adversity doesn’t always happen the way you expect it.

Sometimes it happens before the bell even rings.

The key is how you respond.

Both of these young men stayed locked in, trusted their corner, made adjustments, and walked away with the W’s.

Make sure you congratulate Logan and Kenny. They earned it. 👏🏽🥊

HIGHLIGHTS COMING SOON 👀🔥

Stay locked in because we have MORE FIGHT DATES coming in October.

CONTROL THE EXCHANGE 🤯

Control the elbow, break their posture, and take away their leverage.

Once you force them backward, they’re no longer attacking, they’re reacting to you.

Control the position. Control the pace. Control the exchange.
