In an ever-changing world, I wonder why the dance world still struggles so deeply to change.
Dance gave me a voice long before I knew how to use one.
An art built in silence somehow taught me to be loud.
I was brave in the quiet.
And eventually, that bravery followed me beyond the studio.
So to every dancer finding their way—your voice is part of your artistry, too. When something is unjust, use it. And when someone in power asks for your silence, remember that sometimes it is not your voice that needs reevaluation, but the space asking you to quiet it.
Dance can live in silence.
Dancers should not have to.
Be brave in the quiet.
Be louder when it matters.
True artists need their voices to survive... and to BECOME.
