Instructions for becoming an amateur boxer:
Step (1) - Are you interested in boxing competitively (e.g. in the annual Golden Gloves tournament, State Games tournament, club shows)? Step (2) - Become a USA Boxing member (approx. $65/75 annually). Go to: http://www.teamusa.org/usa-boxing/membership/registration and sign up. Step (3) - Get annual physical (required to compete). The Michigan Golden Gloves Association is saddened to learn of the loss of one of our boxing family. A senseless act has robbed the boxing community of a great competitor, young leader and a truly awesome individual. King Gildersleeve, you will be missed. Boxing gym offers juvenile offenders a second chance First acts don’t define a film, but they can make or break them. In the same sense, teenage mistakes don’t set a life in stone — at least according to Frank Briones, youth specialist with the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center. (June 9, 2026)

Also we want to congratulate our MGGA officials. Both Jeff Beran and Kathy Lentz made the cut to judge multiple bouts in the National finals.
Zoe losses, dec 4-1. Golden Gloves Nationals runner up, not what she wanted but still not bad. Congratulations Zoe. Good fight.
