🎣🛶 Have you tried fly fishing from your kayak yet?

Inspired by .exploration, this is a reminder of just how incredible kayak fly fishing can be.

There’s nothing like chasing fish from water level. With the stability to stand and cast confidently and the maneuverability to reach water that larger boats simply can’t access, a fishing kayak gives you a unique advantage.

From stalking shallow flats to exploring hidden shorelines, the stealth and versatility of a kayak put you right where the fish are.

Is the ice finally gone?? Searching for open water to launch my kayak 05/15/2026

After months of ice and snow, I finally found open water and kicked off the kayak fishing season. The lake had just recently opened up after a long winter, and with bad weather moving through, conditions were far from ideal—but there was no way I was waiting any longer to get back on the water.

What started as a mission to explore fresh open water quickly turned into an insane day on the lake, including a HUGE bass smashing an absolutely massive bait when I least expected it.

Cold water, rough weather, and fresh post-ice-out conditions made this one of the most exciting trips of the spring so far.

Stick around until the end—you won’t want to miss that giant bass blowup. 🛶🎣🌧️
