🌊☀️ Creating memories, building connections, and embracing the beauty of nature!

Pine Castle participants recently enjoyed a relaxing day of exploration thanks to our incredible community partners at Paul Davis Restoration Corporate Office. The adventure included a peaceful stroll along the shoreline of Big Talbot Island's iconic Boneyard Beach, a scenic ride aboard the Jacksonville Ferry, and lunch together at Singleton's Seafood in Mayport.

Community outings like these are so much more than field trips. They provide meaningful opportunities for our participants to build friendships, experience new places, and strengthen their connection to the community. Time spent outdoors also supports mental well-being, offering moments to relax, recharge, and enjoy the calming effects of nature.

A heartfelt thank you to the Paul Davis Restoration team for investing in experiences that promote inclusion, belonging, and joy. Your partnership continues to create opportunities that enrich lives and remind our participants that they are valued members of our community.

🥔🎨 Creativity, Teamwork & a Little Potato Head Fun! 🎨🥔

Things got creative in the Shops recently as our participants took on a fun Potato Head Family Contest!

This hands-on activity was about so much more than building a silly Potato Head. Participants worked together, made creative choices, practiced problem-solving, and focused on quality-based learning—all while having a LOT of fun! 💙

We love creating opportunities where learning happens through teamwork, creativity, connection, and hands-on experiences.

And, of course… there may have been a little friendly competition along the way! 😉🥔🏆

Our Pine Castle residential participants had an
incredible time cheering on our hometown team, the
Jacksonville Jaguars!

From delicious game-day food to the excitement of the
crowd, every moment was filled with fun, laughter, and
plenty of Jaguars pride! 🙌

Our group had a blast soaking in the game-day
atmosphere and lifting their voices to cheer on the
home team. We love seeing our participants enjoying
the experiences, friendships, and adventures that make
life so meaningful.

⚾🦐 Community Connections with a Baseball Flair!

There’s nothing quite like a day at the ballpark! 💙 Pine Castle participants, staff, and caregivers enjoyed a fun-filled outing to see the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp take the field!

From cheering on the team and enjoying time together to indulging in some classic ballpark favorites, it was a wonderful day of community, connection, and making memories. 🌭🍿⚾ And, of course, hot dogs and popcorn were definitely on the menu! 😋

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that bring our Pine Castle family together and help our participants experience all the fun our community has to offer!

September is Deaf Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the culture, language, accomplishments, and contributions of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. It is also an opportunity to promote greater awareness, inclusion, and accessibility in our communities.

September is especially significant as it recognizes the first World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf, held in 1951. The month also includes International Day of Sign Languages on September 23 and International Week of Deaf People.

At Pine Castle, we believe everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and included. This month, let’s celebrate the many ways people communicate and continue building a community where everyone has the opportunity to connect, contribute, and belong.

🏀 When the Jacksonville University Men's Basketball - aka JU Dolphins come to Pine Castle, you KNOW we’re ready for a game! 💙

We love a good game of basketball, so when the Jacksonville University basketball team stopped by Pine Castle for a little friendly competition, our participants were ALL IN! 🙌🏀

There were plenty of smiles, teamwork, encouragement, and—of course—a little friendly competition on the court! Moments like these are what community connection is all about.

We are grateful to the Jacksonville University team for spending time with us and sharing their love of the game. Come back anytime, Dolphins—we’ll be ready for the rematch! 😄🏀

💙 DSP Spotlight: Honoring Kim Wimberly 💙

We are proud to celebrate Kim Wimberly, a true example of compassion, dedication, and what it means to show up for others every day.

Kim has been part of the Pine Castle family for two years, but her passion for helping others began long before she joined our team. Throughout her career, she has worked with children, served as a foster parent, and supported individuals with intellectual and developmental differences. Caring for others is at the heart of who Kim is.

Kim brings an incredible combination of positivity, dependability, and compassion to Pine Castle. She is always willing to lend a hand, follow through on a task, and do whatever she can to support her participants and teammates.

One of Kim’s greatest strengths is her ability to bring calm to challenging situations. With patience, understanding, and professionalism, she helps de-escalate conflicts and create a more positive environment for everyone around her.
But what makes Kim especially memorable is the way she connects with people. Her friendly spirit and genuine concern for others make participants and team members feel comfortable, supported, and valued. 💙

Thank you, Kim, for your two years at Pine Castle and for a lifetime of choosing to make a difference in the lives of others. We are honored to celebrate you during DSP Appreciation Week! 👏✨
