Yes — ISR Oahu can travel to your home pool! 💦

There’s an added fee, but to many families it’s well worth it. The convenience of having your child learn life-saving skills at their very own pool comes with real benefits. Your keiki will learn all the ins and outs of their pool — the exits, the safe spots, the not-so-safe spots, and so much more.

Don’t have a pool? Contact us and we’ll connect you with one of our pools closest to you.

We’re jumping into summer in full swing, so reach out if you want to secure a spot before we fill up. Mahalo! 🤙🏽

Every child that completes the ISR program will have the skills to self-rescue and aquatic problem solve!🩷💫

Even in a pretty dress and soggy full diaper.💦🤣

Mahalo for allowing me to give her these life-saving skills! 💛

Gentle Back Pushover is one of ISR’s many “Check Out Procedures.”

But why do we do this? 🤔 Is it because I love flipping babies? Yes but no! 🤣

The Gentle Back Pushover, which I simply call “The Funny Flip,” is one of ISR’s many placements that assimilates falling into a body of water.

Common examples include:
💧Reaching for a toy or leaf at the edge of the pool and tumbling in
💧Getting knocked down by a wave
💧Leaning over a boat and tumbling in
💧Any other aquatic situation where you can tossed, flipped and/or tumbled

With ISR your child will learn real skills that will help them survive in real life scenarios. To learn more check out www.isroahu.com! 💙💛

Btw isn’t Carmen the cutest sporting her Punahou gear?

3 Things I Love About Puddle Jumpers 🚫

1. Nothing
2. Nothing
3. Nothing

In all honesty, I hate these things 😤 They do more harm than good.

Puddle Jumpers:
⚠️ They create a false sense of security
⚠️ They reinforce a vertical posture in the water (aka a drowning position)
⚠️ They can actually put your child at a higher risk of drowning when not used properly

I only recommend USCG-approved flotation devices as a precaution when around water—not for swimming. For example: 🚤 on a boat, 🎣 fishing on a dock, or 🌊 during ocean activities (surfing, jet ski, paddle boarding).

❌ Flotation devices should NOT be used for playing in the water or learning to swim!

Transition to Stroke💦

This next step in your child’s swim journey was developed by Master Instructor Audrey Harrer and builds beautifully on ISR Survival Skills.

In this program, your child will:
✨ Transition from underwater arm movements to reaching arms out of the water (freestyle)
✨ Continue to strengthen independent swimming, floating, and survival skills
✨ Learn proper flutter kick technique (face down and on the back)
✨ Begin progressing toward freestyle, backstroke, and other strokes
✨ Always prioritize water safety, survival, and aquatic problem-solving

Around ages 3–4 years old, once your child has mastered their ISR Survival Skills, they’re ready to advance into Transition to Stroke🏊🏼‍♀️
