A temazcal is a traditional Mesoamerican steam bath ceremony used for healing, purification, and spiritual growth. Held in a dome-shaped structure, participants sit around heated volcanic stones doused with herb-infused water, creating steam.

Guided by a shaman, the ritual includes meditation and chanting to encourage physical relaxation, mental clarity, and a deeper connection to nature and ancient traditions.

Our temazcal at Mizata is named Útero to symbolize rebirth and renewal. “Útero,” meaning “womb” in Spanish, reflects the nurturing nature of the temazcal experience. Participants cleanse, heal, and emerge renewed, much like a rebirth. After the purifying heat, they exit through a water canal, symbolizing the transition from the warmth of the womb to the refreshing embrace of new life.
