Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! 💕 We celebrated with a little yoga and mimosas this morning. & i wanted to share a passage I wrote…
I think motherhood and yoga mirror each other in such a beautiful way through strength and softness.
So often, we think strength and softness are opposites. But they’re really not. The strongest people are often the softest too.
Mothers carry so much strength every single day — physically, mentally, emotionally. The strength to support others, protect others, adapt, lead, and continue showing up even when they’re exhausted. But alongside that strength is softness — compassion, patience, nurturing, vulnerability, grace.
And yoga teaches us that same balance.⚖️
There are moments in our practice where we ground down, engage muscles, hold steady, and find power. And there are moments where we soften — where we breathe deeper, release tension, let go of control, and allow ourselves to simply be.
Neither side exists fully without the other. ☯️
💪🏻Strength without softness can leave us feeling tense and disconnected. Softness without strength can leave us feeling ungrounded. But together, they create balance.
🌸Take a moment to notice both. Notice where you feel strong. Notice where you can soften. And remind yourself that you do not have to choose between being powerful and being gentle — you are allowed to be both.
That balance is something worth celebrating today. 🎉
