Another UAMS Health Little Rock Open in the books, for over 23 years we’ve enjoyed being part of such a great event. This year was one of the most challenging ones. We had a lot of weather factors…rain, heat, only needed snow in May to round it out. Overall, it was a fantastic tournament. Big thank you to Jay Heflin, Marc Heflin, Billie Cloud Heflin, Andrea Heflin, Natalie Rockefeller, Chip Stearns, Michele Stearns, Andrew Fox, Rebsamen Tennis Center Staff, Nelson Chenault, Yeimer Armando Bolaños Lara & Mi Paella Restaurant, Greg Fess, Daniel Bryant, and so many volunteers that made this event so amazing after 45 years. Special thanks to my fellow pros that are always nice to help and visit Luis David Martinez and Nicolas Mejias.

The UAMS Health Little Rock Open wants to remind you about International Family Tennis Day on Thursday, May 28 at Rebsamen Tennis Center with !🎾💙🎉 It features a FREE tennis lesson for families at 5 p.m. followed by a match at 6 p.m. in the stadium.

May started with great results from all the hard work and dedication shown during practice. This Mother’s Day weekend was especially meaningful as many moms had the joy of watching their kids give their very best on the court, and some were even blessed to bring home trophies. Great job to August, Emmett and Ayanna.

January 2026 brought memories I will cherish for a lifetime. I am incredibly thankful and honored to receive the Tennis Pro of the Year award from the Arkansas Tennis Association. I finally had the opportunity to thank the many people and organizations who have stood by me over the past 23 years. First and foremost, I thank God for His blessings,none of this would have been possible without Him 🙏.
I want to thank my parents Elizabeth G. de Bermudez and Leonidas Bermudez , who sacrificed, supported, and believed in my potential even before I could walk. They have always believed in me with all their hearts. I am also deeply grateful to my sister Tatiana Bermudez ,who has always been there with encouragement, support, and belief in my journey. Of course, my wife Allison Bermudez ,who deals with me day by day not an easy task, especially with a lifestyle that isn’t as common as people might think. Your patience and support mean everything to me.I would also like to recognize my junior coaches: Pedro Reyes, Pedro Jose Blanco, Ramón Blanco, and Pedro Posada. Each one of them helped me develop a different part of my game and played an important role in shaping the player, coach, and person I am today. Thank you to Rebsamen Tennis Center and the City of Little Rock Parks & Recreation . None of this would have been possible without the late Ed Baxley, who believed in me and trusted that my vision of building a tennis academy here in Arkansas could become a reality. Thank you as well to Chip Stearns and Andrew Fox, who have made my work easier by managing the tennis center better than ever before. To Ouachita Baptist University, especially Coach Craig Ward and the late Johnny Heflin and family Jay Heflin and Marc Heflin, thank you for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime to compete for one of the top teams in the country. Finally, to my college teammates, coworkers Lee Mesaris, Juan Carrion, Luis Carlos Nuñez Rubiano, Charles D. Bobo, and so many more. The families, and most importantly my students you were there when it was time to work, invest, and push each other to be our best, Branch Terrell, Michael Towne, Taylor Cramer, Edward Zhao, Boshan Bob Zhao, Hannah Butcher, Tyler Angtuaco, Jaymie Angtuaco, Julienne Angtuaco and many more.

I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and offer my thanks for a year filled with abundant blessings. 🙏🏼

Beyond the strong results and memorable events, none of this would have been possible without the support of my wife, the dedication of the coaches who have worked alongside me, and the commitment of all the students (and parents) who showed up, trained hard, and continued to grow. 💪🏼

This year, I also want to give a special shout-out to my friends Terence Angtuaco and his family, and Edson Abrao and his family, for more than a decade of support through many shared experiences.

Thank you for being such an important part of Bermudez Tennis Academy’s 22-year journey. We’re looking forward to year 2️⃣3️⃣!

Fall is off to a great start for Bermudez Tennis Academy! 🎾🍁

We kicked off the season celebrating Coach Raul’s tennis coach and mentor Craig Ward, who was inducted into the Ouachita Baptist University Athletics Hall of Fame. It’s an amazing honor marked by a special dinner and a halftime recognition during the football game.

Next up was our first Red Ball Tournament, featuring 16 enthusiastic players who battled it out for over four hours, enjoyed lunch, and mingled to great music!
🏆 Congrats to the Winners:
• 1st place – Harrison, who earned a free private lesson
• 2nd place – Faith, who received a tennis backpack
• 3rd place – Fan, who took home a Mi Paella restaurant gift card

We also had great representation at the Chenal Tournament:
• Hank – Semifinalist, Boys 14 (Back Draw)
• August – 4th place, Boys 16 (Main Draw)
• Emmett – Runner-up, Boys 12 (defeated the #2 seed on his way!)
• Calix – Champion, Boys 14 (Main Draw, straight sets win!)

👏 A huge congratulations to all our players. Your hard work and passion continue to shine!
