📈 We didn't expect our post of us dancing in a bumper car pavilion to go viral so here's some backstory, the memories behind it, and a little bit of carousel appreciation...
⚡DC Lindy Exchange set the stage for another darn good event this year, and they delivered. The bands were top notch, the energy on the dance floor was electric, and it was great to connect with friends, old and new. This year we even got to dance INSIDE a Smithsonian museum!
🥳 What's a lindy exchange? It's a weekend where hundreds of dancers come together for a fantastic multi-band lineup and make new memories on the dance floor. You don't need to have any particular skill-level to have fun at these types of events, although it helps to know a few fundamental steps before you go. Some of the evening dances during the exchange even include an introductory swing dance lesson.
🌎 Because swing dance is a living art form and a vernacular language, you can use the steps you learn locally in Morgantown to swing dance anywhere in the world. And good news, there are plenty of opportunities to start swing dancing in Morgantown, just check the link in our bio!
In our opinion, DCLX showcases its location like no other, and no trip is complete without:
💃 Dancing the night away to a swing orchestra in Glen Echo's Spanish Ballroom.
🎠 A nighttime visit to the Glen Echo Park carousel.
🪩 An extended party in the bumper car pavilion.
🫶 Making a new dance friend from another state or country.
👞 Tired feet!
We can't wait to go back to DCLX next year.

Honestly, it's such a rare treat to see a big band this BIG, and the Garrett Jazz Ensemble always pulls it off beautifully. When they announced their June concert we were already looking forward to the road trip to Deep Creek with the late summer sun hanging low over the hills.
The Performing Arts Center at Garrett College is a beautiful facility with a fantastic floor and the concession stand is an underrated hit. With the full band, happy crowd, and floor full of dancers we were in "almost heaven." Garrett Jazz Ensemble delighted us with classic big band tunes and crooning favorites. In return, people of all generations danced our socks off! Thanks to all involved for the fabulous night of dancing.
Does it make you want to find more dancing? Catch us in Morgantown! You don't need a partner or any previous experience. Check the link in our bio for more dancing opportunities in Morgantown.
Thanks to Teri Biskup Garcia for sharing the photos!
