PULLIN A NEW PR

275 lb Deadlift

Not that long ago, I couldn’t even do a proper deadlift. Fast forward to today and my man Nick has me doing more than I ever imagined I could do.

And I’m not done yet. I’ve got 300 in my sights.

Not too shabby for an old guy trying to get stronger.

BUILDING STRENGTH

I made a conscious decision this year to get stronger.

To achieve this, I’ve had to ride less (in order to get in workouts while also juggling the kids hectic activity schedule)

I’m 7 weeks in and happy with my progress thus far. Need to ramp it up a bit … another day each week.

Hard to believe I moved this volume of weight in an hour. Special thanks to my bud Nick for guiding me in the right direction.

BACK AT IT RACING

Race season for me started 10 days ago. Been busy and forgot to post. 😆

This year my big focus is to do better for Jeff.

Had a good race for me. No crashes or mechanicals and even had a solid battle with team members on lap 3.

No mud and just good times in South Carolina. I always enjoy that race.

JUST HAVE FUN (& STAY IN SHAPE)

I haven’t put as much pressure on myself this off season to train hard for cycling. At my age I don’t expect to produce amazing results. I only want to be as consistent as my busy life will allow in order to keep myself in good physical shape.

This year, I decided that I was going to improve my fitness and strength and just have fun.

Yesterday, I rode well. If I can ride like this next week in South Carolina I’ll be a happy camper.

RACE BIKE UPGRADES

This year I get to upgrade my older Levo with several components to make it my race only bike.

Special thanks to the fine folks at for helping me out. Stage one of upgrades complete. New carbon wheels, carbon handlebar, drivetrain components and brakes to name just a few. The ride just got lighter!

Second round of upgrades are coming real soon, because three weeks from today I hit the road for my first race of the season.

NEW PT & STRENGTH TRAINING

This year I’ve been working with my friend Nick. Had some back issues which he resolved quickly, so I decided to start working on some strength training sessions with him as well.
