Throwback to September 1975, when Gloria Steinem spoke at a rally for women’s rights at UN Headquarters in NYC.
“The easiest way to figure out how democratic and peaceful any group is, is to see how their women are being treated,” she said in a speech at the UN in 2016, denouncing violence against women and girls.
“This is not a women's issue. This is not a children's issue. This is a world issue.”

The El Niño climate phenomenon is strengthening and the risks are growing. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) forecasts that it will persist through February 2027 and intensify into a very strong event in the coming months.
