Boathouse to bierhaus. We discovered an Austro-Hungarian beer garden by paddling across the Hudson to a hidden cove. Prost!
Big outdoor tables, flags flying, and incredible food. Burgers, brats, sausages, and veggie burgers. Gear, boats, guides provided. One beer max, we’re there for food and banter!
We run trips every weekend, this Biergarten Trip will be monthly. Take Kayak or SUP Basics 1-2-3 Classes starting May 2nd. Then do this! Sign up for classes from our profile.
TriBeCa by water. The secret to spring on the coast: the air’s warm, but the ocean’s cold.
NYC waterways follows the rhythm of the Atlantic. While the air can jump from 30° to 70°, the water’s 44° rising slowly. We wear drysuits through the end of April. We’re warm & dry even if Charlie jumps in after the birds and we go after him! 🐾
When the water hits 50°, we switch to wetsuits and regular clothes soon after.
As Eric says: “Get some exercise, fresh air and sunshine with kindred spirits.”
Whether it’s a paddling along Midtown or a coffee run in TriBeCa, the season has begun for those who know the secret!

November is when things finally quiet down and we can follow our curiosity beyond NYC.
We packed our folding kayaks and let Cat guide us into Connecticut’s Norwalk Islands, a string of wild little refuges where you hop sandbars and weave between grassy shoals. In the clear, shallow water, you can see the bottom scattered with sacred treasures.
It felt like an expedition more than a day trip…
NYC a barely visible speck on the far-off horizon,
wide open water around us and a breeze waking up all our senses.
With air and water temps hovering near 50°F / 10°C, the wetsuits ended up under a thermal blanket, while the drysuits stayed toasty.
We reached Westport just ahead of sunset, packed up the boats, and had a delicious dinner.
The first drops of the rain reached us on the drive home across the Tappan Zee, an inland sea paddled for millennia long before any bridge existed.
And that’s where we’re headed next.

There are always surprises and adventures around the corner with MKC! Just this past week our skyline tour got a visit from a rainbow while enjoying the view from Pier 96 and watching a cruise ship make its way down the Hudson. 🌈
