Tissue Meeting is a space for tissue artists, coaches, and enthusiasts to meet, share, connect, and research together! Join Anna Thomas Henry and Katherine Hutchinson at Kinetic Arts Center (Oakland, CA) for a full day of skill sharing, practice, and inspiration in a collaborative environment.

We had some absolutely phenomenal last minute workshop additions for this year's Summer Circus Celebration. Veronica Blair is an accomplished aerialist, choreographer, and circus researcher. She is the recipient of the 2021 Gerbode Foundation's Choreographers Award, the 2020 American Circus Educators Award for Innovation, and the Community Impact at the inaugural International Circus Awards for her work on the Uncle Junior Project, a multimedia archive spotlighting People of African descent in American circus. Under the same project, Veronica curated a live exhibition titled "Entrapment to Entertainment: A Celebration of Black People in American Circus" in 2013. Her impactful work has earned her invitations to speak at the Smithsonian, San Francisco International Arts Festival, and facilitate panel discussions engaging conversations about institutional barriers, individual biases, and abuse prevention in the circus industry as part of the Circus and Changing Realities series in partnership with CircusTalk.com.
When Avery Cluff reached out to tell us they had a change in plans and would now be in town for Summer Circus Celebration, we jumped at a chance to add them to the lineup. Catch Avery Cluff performing Tippy Hoop on Saturday 8/15, or try your hand at this exciting apparatus yourself in their workshop on Sunday 8/16 at 2pm. We are lucky to have this powerhouse circus physical therapist and researcher as part of our community, and you can take advantage of her wealth of knowledge during this year's Summer Circus Celebration. Join us at Kinetic Arts Center for New Guidelines for Managing Concussion in the Circus Arts with Dr. Stephanie Greenspan on Friday 8/14, from 2-3:30pm.
Stephanie Greenspan is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with post-graduate residency/fellowship training and board specialties in orthopaedic and neurologic physical therapy. She founded Artletic Science in 2021, with the mission to enhance the health and performance of artist athletes through research, education, and physical therapy. As a clinician, she works with recreational to professional level circus artists and dancers with a focus on decreasing injury risk and optimizing performance. She integrates her background as a dancer, aerialist, and coach into her clinical practice. She also conducts research on injuries and movement in circus artists.
