FYI. The trail on the west side of the lake at Heritage Park is closed for a few days for paving work. Please don't go around any trail closed signs. Thank you for your understanding.

Good news! The east side of the Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area that had been closed for repairs and improvements has reopened! It will be open until new fencing is installed. Once that work needs to be done, it will close again.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as improvements were made to this area.

A heads-up for our four-legged park visitors!

The east side of the Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area is closed for approximately two weeks while we complete repairs and improvements to help keep the area safe and enjoyable for everyone.

The west side of the off-leash area for large dogs and the small dog off-leash area will remain open during this time, so your pup can still get in plenty of playtime!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work on these improvements.

New Accessible Dock now open at Heritage Park Lake!

This project was done to enhance accessibility at the Heritage Park Marina by adding an accessible kayak and canoe launch, along with an accessible pathway connecting to the new dock. A turf slide was added to help with pulling kayaks to the dock.

Most JCPRD facilities will be closed Friday, July 3 & Saturday, July 4, unless otherwise noted.

- JCPRD parks and trails will be open during regular park hours.
- Tomahawk Hills and Heritage Park golf courses will be open during regular hours, weather permitting
- Visitor Services at Shawnee Mission Park will be closed Friday. Purchase permits online at https://jcprd.com/642/Fishing-Boating-Permits
- Shawnee Mission Park Marina will be open regular hours Friday, July 3 and the last rental will be at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 4.
- Shawnee Mission Park Beach will be open Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 from noon to 4 pm.
- Ernie Mill Nature Center is closed to drop-in visitors through mid-2026; park is open dawn to dusk.

Good news! Black Bob Road has reopened south of 159th Street and there is a new western entrance to Heritage Park that you can access now!

Thank you to all the contractors and crews who worked so hard on the updated road and the new entrance to the park.

Once you enter the park through this entrance, you can turn right to go to the Heritage Park Golf Course. Turning left will bring you into the park and to the parking lot for the Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area.

If you come to the park this week, please be safe in the extreme heat.

Join us this weekend, June 6-7, for the KC Unity Cup presented by Capitol Federal from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Heritage Soccer Park — a weekend filled with exciting soccer, food, and community spirit. International food will be available for purchase at the event.

Teams representing their heritage will take the field for their chance to be crowned the first-ever KC Unity Cup champions, while the sounds, flavors, and traditions of cultures from around the world keep the energy going all day.

No tickets needed, just show up and enjoy.
