This is Cesar! 4 years ago he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, lost a bunch of weight and muscle while learning to eat differently, and felt weak and had consistent neck pain before starting to train with us.
Now look at him! Neck pain gone, more energy and getting strong! These numbers are after 2 months of training:
Squat: 265
Bench: 150
Deadlift: 300
Barbell Therapy
Strength training gym

Alright, here it is:
“Is strength training safe for youth?”
Let’s pull off that “two birds, one stone” thing and bust a couple of myths.
Not only is strength training recommended for kids as young as 8 years old, but there isn’t enough scientific evidence to support the idea that properly supervised strength training stunts growth or damages growth plates.¹
And that’s not all.
Youth powerlifting has an injury rate of just 1–4 injuries per 1,000 hours of participation.
Our Summer Strength athletes have the option to complete 40 sessions between June and August… just under 50 total hours of training in a controlled, coached, and supervised environment.
In other words?
Your kids are far safer with us than in most other sports, and they’re more capable than they’ve been given credit for.
Strong kids become confident kids. Let’s build both.
PSA!!! We are excited to introduce our new OFFICIAL Women’s Group Coach, meet Britt! She has been with us for a few years, so we decided to make it official, she will be running our new women’s program, and will also be managing our youth program. Here is her introduction:
You’ve heard the saying, “She walked so I could run,” right?
Nice to meet you! 👋🏽 I’m “she.” 😆
But really… I’m Britt, and a few years ago a friend invited me to train with her at Barbell Therapy. I walked through those doors not knowing how much a gym would change my life and I never looked back.
Since then, I’ve grown tremendously as both a competitive powerlifter and a person. Years of learning from knowledgeable coaches, showing up consistently, failing, adjusting, and trying again until I hit my goal have shaped me into the coach I am today.
Now I have the privilege of joining the Barbell Therapy team as the women’s and youth strength coach. 💪✨ (somebody pinch me🥹).
If you’ve been wanting to get stronger, feel more confident in the gym, or finally have guidance and support that meets you where (and gives you results) message me to learn about Barbell Therapy’s current offer for 1:1 coaching + a gym membership for about the cost of group training.
I can’t wait to hear from you.
Get yourself a thicc boi band and give this a try 🤌, solves my beef I’ve always had with this exercise.
As a coach I’m constantly looking for things, credit to for this gem
If someone tells you that you need drills, mobility work, “activate” something or some extra stuff 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩—> unfollow.
Warm-Up definition: prepare your 🧠 and your body to do the thing. Without spending too much time or wearing yourself out. Usually that means do the thing light, and work up to your target.
You CAN do more if you feel you need more or it helps you perform, but you don’t HAVE to do anything other than this.
True for everyone, but especially the ladies! We can help you get there, let us teach you how!
You know one of the main differences between people who are successful in their fitness journey and those who are not? The ones who make it far do the thing, EVEN WHEN THEY DON’T WANT TO. Motivation comes and goes, discipline is better. It’s really hard to get to that point on your own though, most people don’t. Get support, accountability, knowledge and more with a coach
Failed on 9 last week after bench, I thought “I could get it if I were fresh.” Well, I was fresh, it happens, I’ll get it soon. With fitness adaptations we don’t actually have a lot of control on the timeline, in fact, if you try to push the timeline too hard, you increase your risk of injury, that’s one of the few things actually correlated to injury risk. Happy lifting!
Currently on Saturdays from 10-11:30 am. We have spots open!
If you know someone with kids you think would like to try this, please share! You will be surprised that kids LOVE to lift when they learn how, and it’s so good for them! In case you’re worried, science shows it’s just as safe for kids as adults, lots of misconceptions about that. Improved self image, confidence, sports performance and of course strength! 💪. Young athletes who lift weights have a 30% advantage over those who do not. Do them a favor while they are young!!
Trying to get your kids into lifting? We have a youth group most Saturdays from 10:30-11:30am, contact coach for more info,
OR
Come train YOURSELF, and lift WITH them at our small group training. Message us to claim a spot!
