❗We are now one week into our Simplify Your Nutrition Challenge and this last week has been all about tracking our food!

🕵️ There are so many useful ways to track. We have participants who are going old school, using a pen and paper to keep track. And others who are using various apps on their phones. It doesn't matter which mode of tracking the challengers use, what matters is the awareness that is gained about the one's food intake, quantities and food choices!

💪This has been a great week of discovery for the challenge participants about their food consumption and dietary habits!

😎Tracking food on a daily basis is extremely important and helps bring awareness to the amount of food one is consuming and portion sizes, the types of foods that are choosen to be consumed, and it also brings awareness to how balanced or unbalanced these meal choices are.

🧠 All of this information provides important data to take into account when on a journey related to nutrition, fitness as well as overall health and wellness.

📣When I first started my fitness and nutrition journey, I didn't know what macronutrients were (protein, carbohydrates and fats) and I especially didn't have a clue about portions or how much I was actually consuming.

❗❗❗One of the only apps that was available to track food on my phone digitally when I first started this journey was on MyFitness pal. I have always been a fan of tracking my food comsumption on MyFitness Pal, so I continue to track there on a daily basis.

🧐This weeks focus and lessons within the MyCoach app teaches our participants where they are at in regards to their nutrition, this week continues to bring about a greater level of awareness and gives a better idea of where they can implement balanced and positive changes in the future!!

💪📣❗Keep up the great work challengers! Proud of the effort that has been put in so far!

Next week we are focusing on eating slowing and mindfully!

Last but not least we have the "T" in our S.M.A.R.T. goals! 🙌

The final piece to the puzzle of setting strong goals is to make sure we add a time frame to it. Important questions to ask ourselves:

1. When do you want to start your goal?
2. When do you want to have achieved your goal?

By adding these time frames to our goals we keep ourselves on track to crush all of our goals! 💪💪💪

❓❗️Are you setting goals that you can actually reach? As you set your goals for this new year make sure that you are setting goals that are attainable.

📣We’ve all heard that if your goals don’t scare you then they aren’t big enough. But when you are setting S.M.A.R.T goals, think about the practices and habits that you can do, and do consistently on the way to your bigger overall goals. Think about these as the building blocks to your overall goals.

👎We don’t want you to bite off more than we can chew on a consistent basis. This just leads to frustration and "falling off the bandwagon". Leading the way to a “I will start again on Monday” attitude week after week.

💪We want you to set small attainable/achievable goals in the form of practices or habits that you can accomplish on a daily or weekly basis-where through time these habits and practices become non-negotiables, and a part of your everyday life.

It's not so much a matter of intensity, than a matter of consistency!

Consistency is key.

“My goal is to lose weight by Valentine’s.” “My goal is to eat more vegetables this week.”

Do these kinds of goals sound familiar?? What do they have in common?? The problem with setting goals like these is there is no measurement of success.👎

In order to have success with our goals they must be measurable. We need to be able to track how we are progressing! 🥇🥈🥉

For example, “I want to eat 1 cup of vegetables with at least one meal every day this week. “ See how making the goal measurable makes it more attainable? 🙌

😎When it comes to making healthy behavior changes, such as increasing our fruits & veggies, moving our bodies more or drinking enough water in order to set yourself up for success, it’s helpful to break down your overall goal into small, specific S.M.A.R.T. goals.

😎So many people aim to set goals that are too general, and not specific enough – which doesn’t give you the actionable steps to take to get there!

😎If your goal is to eat healthier or get more active, without having actionable steps in place, it’ll be much harder to reach your goals.

👇Instead, focus on small, doable habits & actions that you can do over time that help your health. THIS is the best way to change your behaviors.
Setting SMART goals is a huge help.

Make your goals SMART:
💪Small – avoid having a goal that’s too overwhelming! Make it small, one step at a time. For example, if you aren’t eating many fruits and veggies, start by maybe just adding in ONE extra serving every day. Once you achieve that, then you can build on from there.
💪Measurable – make sure your goals are measurable, meaning you can track them! Get specific. Working on increasing your intake? Set measurable goals such as “I will eat 3 meals and 3 snacks per day for at least 4 days this week.”
💪Attainable – make sure you make your goal something that’s actually doable! Are you really going to go to the gym every single day? Why not start with 3 days per week? Make sure it’s attainable for YOU.
💪Realistic – Similar to above, make sure your goal is realistic! You don’t want to set a goal that isn’t going to be able to work with your current schedule, environment, etc. or that seems too difficult for you to reach based on where you are now.
💪Time-Bound – Make it specific – add numbers in! For example, “I will add a vegetable to my lunch every day for the next 2 weeks.”

Over the next few days we will be covering each of the SMART goals in more detail! Keep following for more inspiration.

Do you have a goal of losing more body fat?? Losing fat is often framed as "less" of this, and "less" of that. However, framing it like this is more helpful!

1. More protein!
2. More fiber!
3. More water!
4. More sleep!
5. More steps!
6. More lifting
7. More home cooked meals!
8. More time with people that enrich our lives!
9. More patience!

The mindset we view our goals and the world is so important. Our mind effects our body and vice versa. Make sure we flood our mind with positivity!

Every client came into this years challenge with their own set of unique circumstances. As life is full of seeming roadblocks and barriers we are so proud to say that each and every participant overcame and learned through the process of this challenge. Taking with them invaluable lessons and habits that will help them in their health and wellness journey's forward.

It's not called a challenge for nothing!

All of the participants this year worked so hard and put a lot of time and effort into the daily habits and lessons, but of course there can only be one winner!!

This years winner is:

One of the biggest wins that Jody had was how to stay consistent with her nutrition while traveling and during the Thanksgiving Holiday. She learned how to make simple shifts in her mindset to help her stay the course and keep pushing herself not only with her nutrition consistency but the limits of her strength in the gym at StayF**T. She consistently learned how to push heavier weights and how to fuel her workouts with good nutritional choices. She also learned that prep is one of the keys to success when implementing healthy changes to ones nutrition plan.

Way to go Jody!!! You rocked this challenge!! 🏆🥇

🏆🥇Key take aways that other participants in this challenge learned were:
-How to get clear on their goals and set a game plan on how to reach them!
-Learned how to eat balanced meals by making consistent smart choices that were sustainable.
-Learned they don't have to feel deprived to reach their goals!
-Learned how to meal prep and where to find lots of ideas for healthy snacks.
-Along with their coach created accountability.

1. Record your numbers!! ✅💯

2. REST!! If you want to gain strength you MUST rest! Don’t be afraid of it. Rest up!! 😴🥱
3.Be prepared!! Look at workout the night before and mentally prepare for what you’ll be doing the next time. 🤓

4. Consistency! Anything good in life takes consistent effort. 💪🏾 you want to get stronger? You need to show up to classes and give 100% effort!!
