We are excited to announce our 2027 15 White coaches — Head Coach Aaron Gill and Assistant Coach Juan Gallardo!
Aaron brings 30 years of coaching experience and has been with AVC since 2010. Throughout his tenure at AVC, he has guided our White teams to multiple top 25 finishes in the NCVA Power League and several top 36 placements, as well as securing bids to USAV Junior Nationals. His coaching success also extends internationally, with gold medal wins at both the 2019 Pan American Maccabi Games and the 2022 World Maccabi Games.
Juan has 3 years of coaching experience at the club and high school level (Pinole Valley High School), on the boys’ and girls’ sides. As a player, Juan played for 4 years at Mt. Diablo High School where he earned first-team all-league. Coach Juan believes that putting in the hard work and effort will show, so he always helps his players strive for more than what they think is possible.

We are excited to announce our 2027 15 Pink coaches — Co-Head Coaches Mike Buller and Izzy Ultsch and Assistant Coach Sam Felix!
With nearly 30 years of coaching experience, Mike’s coaching highlights include leading the 2017 13 Black team to a 3rd-place finish in the Open Division at Junior Nationals and to a 7th-place finish in 2023. In 2024, he helped the 13 Black team triple qualify in the Open Division, and he led the 15 Pink team to first-place finishes at both PNQ (Liberty) and Far Westerns (USA). He helped his current 14 Black team earn an Open Bid to Nationals this year as well. As a player, Mike was an MVP Outside Hitter at Pacific Union College Prep and competed at Southwestern University in the NAIA Cal Pac Conference, where his team captured the league title in 1993.
Izzy is in her fourth season coaching and has coached boys in the 16s age group and girls in the 12s, 15s and 17s age groups. She is also the head coach of Redwood High School’s varsity volleyball team. She played NCAA Division II volleyball at California State University Monterey Bay (Class of 2023), and she earned All–Tri-County League honors and was named team MVP as a senior at St. Mary’s College HS (in 2018) and second team all–league (in 2017). She played at AVC as a club player and returned last year as a coach.
Sam joined AVC in 2024 when he assisted that year’s 15 Pink team to first-place finishes at both PNQ (Liberty) and Far Westerns (USA). He has over a decade of coaching experience and played varsity volleyball at Watsonville High School. Sam’s teams have won multiple championships, including the 2023 Far Westerns American Division title. He also played on the U.S. Air Force volleyball team during his service.

We are excited to announce our 2027 15 Black coaches — Head Coach Katie Pease and Assistant Coaches Tyler Pease and Hugo Gomes!
Katie has coached at AVC for 20 seasons and is also the club’s co-founder, owner and director. She has grown AVC from 6 teams to over 30 teams and has led numerous squads to podium-finishes, including three medals at USAV Junior Nationals — a gold and a silver in the National Division and a bronze in the American Division. Among her most recent coaching highlights are helping her 2025 13 Black and 15 Black teams both double qualify in the Open Division for USAV JNs, and leading her current 15 Black team to a 10-0 gold-medal finish at the Northeast Qualifier (Liberty) and a 2nd-place finish at NCVA Power League Regional Championships as well as helping both her 13 Black and 15 Black teams qualify for USAV JNs.
Tyler has six years of coaching experience at AVC, working on the girls’ and boys’ sides across multiple age groups. He helped lead 14 Blue to a silver medal at 2025 Boys Junior Nationals. He helped his current 14 Black team earn an Open Bid and led his current 15 Black team to a 2nd-place finish at NCVA Power League Regional Championships and a 10-0 gold-medal finish at the Northeast Qualifier (Liberty). Tyler played right side and outside hitter for Grand Canyon University’s club team. His team finished 3rd in the top division at Nationals, and he was named 2nd Team All-Tournament his senior season.

He coached at the Univ. of San Francisco, contributing to the program’s most successful season since 2008.

We are excited to announce our 2026 16 White coaches — Head Coach Jason Mongue and Assistant Coaches Sarah Perata and Kyle Pult!
Jason joined Absolute Volleyball Club in 2024. Prior to joining AVC, he was the junior varsity coach at College Prep High School and led successful 15s club teams, winning tournaments like the WCVBA Presidents’ Day tournament. Jason graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and holds American Red Cross certification in First Aid and CPR.
Sarah also joined Absolute Volleyball Club in 2024. She played varsity volleyball at Novato High School and continued at City College of San Francisco. Sarah brings 14 years of youth coaching experience with programs including Marin Catholic and Marin Juniors. She has coached a wide range of age groups and is skilled in player development from beginner to advanced levels.
Kyle played three years with AVC’s 18 Blue team and brings six years of coaching experience, including coaching boys’ varsity volleyball at Marin Catholic High School, where he is now head coach. As a player, Kyle was MCAL Player of the Year in 2018 and helped lead Marin Catholic to two league titles. He earned a Management degree from the University of San Francisco and is passionate about developing players both technically and mentally.

We are excited to announce our 2026 16 Black coaches — Head Coach Jairo Sierra and Assistant Coaches Lizzie Ahern and Tyler Pease!
Jairo is joining AVC as the 2027 16 Black Head Coach, bringing over 20 years of coaching experience, during which he led championship-level club, high school, and collegiate teams. He most recently served as Master Instructor for all junior programs, as well as head coach, assistant and mentor at KIVA in Kentucky. He holds two KHSAA State Championships as a Varsity Assistant Coach and served as an assistant at Spaulding University in Louisville and St. Catharine College in Springfield, KY. Prior to taking his most-recent role at KIVA, Jairo was the head coach of Menlo-Atherton’s varsity team and worked across multiple age groups at the club level in the Bay Area.
Lizzie was a founding player on AVC’s first-ever 12s team and played at AVC through 18 Black before heading to Amherst College, where she had multiple NESCAC Player-of-the-Week awards and ranked third in the league in kills per set in her first year. She was also named All-Conference and to New England Women’s Volleyball Association’s All-Rookie Team. Lizzie began her coaching career in 2017 helping AVC 17 Black win first in the region and finish Top 20 in the Nation (Open). She is returning to coaching after a decade in North Carolina, where she was pursuing a graduate degree and obtaining her professional mental health counseling license.

We are so excited to announce our amazing 2026 17 Pink coaches — Head Coach Hugo Gomes and Assistant Coaches Kelly Luz and Tori O’Sullivan!
Hugo joined AVC in 2024, bringing over 30 years of volleyball experience. Originally from Brazil, Hugo was a standout middle blocker with multiple 2nd-place finishes in regional Brazilian conferences and later competed in U.S. semi-professional leagues. He played at the University of San Francisco, contributing to the program’s most successful season since 2008. Hugo holds a degree in Software Engineering from FSM in Brazil.
Kelly joined Absolute Volleyball Club in 2024 and has five years of coaching experience. A CIF First Team libero and setter from Mills High School, Kelly played college volleyball at College of San Mateo and graduated from Chapman University. She placed third at the 2024 AAU Nationals with her previous club team and has coached both girls and boys across multiple age groups.
Tori has five years of coaching experience at Absolute Volleyball Club, helping teams earn bids in the 18 National and 12 USA divisions and placing 3rd in the 14 Club Division at the 2023 Boys SoCal Cup. She played high school volleyball at Saint Mary’s College High, earning Tri-County League MVP and multiple First Team all-league honors. Tori continued her career at San Diego State and Long Beach State, where she was named to the All Mountain West Team twice and recorded over 1,000 career kills.

We are excited to announce our 2026 17 Black coaches — Head Coach Nick Honrada and Asst Coaches Reagan Goeke and Amanda Ilgunas!
Nick brings 11 years of coaching experience and is the head coach at Marin Catholic. He has coached multiple teams, leading squads to strong finishes such as 3rd place in the 12 American Division (2021) and 9th place in the 14 Open Division (2023). Nick helped the 2025 16 Black team earn an Open bid last season. He led his current 17 Black team to being double-bidded in the Open Division. As a player, Nick was a varsity Libero at Heritage High School. At Sonoma State University, he earned a second-place finish at Club Nationals while playing club volleyball there.
Reagan brings five years of coaching experience. She has coached with Forward Volleyball Club, assisted with the Ocean Bay Volleyball Club Boys 18-2s, helped with clinics and tryouts at Legacy Volleyball Club, coached campers at Pepperdine, Virginia Tech, and Rollins College. As a player, Reagan competed as a Middle Blocker at Pepperdine University, Virginia Tech (ACC), and Rollins College. During her time at Pepperdine, her team earned a Top 25 national ranking and competed in the NCAA Tournament. Reagan helped lead her Lake Orion High School team to a Division I State Championship. As a varsity team captain, she set the school record for blocks in a single season.
Amanda brings 16 years of coaching experience and is a coach at Branson High School. She has led teams to 13 Open bids, 5 National bids, 1 USA, and 2 American finishes. As a player, Amanda earned First Team All-League honors and helped lead her Notre Dame Academy High School team to a CIF Division III Championship. She continued her career at UCSB, playing Division 1 and club volleyball, where she was named MVP of UCSB Girl’s Club Volleyball in 2010. Amanda helped lead her 2025 18 Black team to 3rd place finish in the National Division at USAV GJNC and her 2026 18 Black team to qualifying in the Open Division.
