Quite the sight on Front Street tonight for the first-ever Taste of Scituate event. The fundraiser featured a massive community table in the street where patrons sampled dishes from local restaurants. The Taste of Scituate was organized by Scituate resident Mike Pisco who is a cancer survivor. All proceeds from the event go to Cancer Can't, a South Shore organization helping cancer patients and their families. This morning, the Scituate Fire Department and Scituate Fire Fighters Local 1464 held a special 25th remembrance of the September 11th attacks. The event featured guest speaker Stephen Roach Jr. who lost his father, Scituate resident Stephen Roach on 09/11/2001. Mr. Roach was working on the 105th floor of 1 World Trade Center when the towers were attacked. Mr. Roach's entire family attended the event. Tomorrow marks the 25th remembrance of the September 11th attacks. At the Scituate Town Library this week there is a special Fallen Heroes and 9/11 Victims Memorial Rock Garden set up by Gates Middle School 8th grade student Mishi Weiner. Mishi is a Project 351 ambassador. Project 351 is a statewide program that convenes a new class of 8th grade ambassadors every year, representing the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts, who "embrace the responsibility to lead with a determination to make a difference." If you drop into the library in the coming days, take a moment to read the names at the garden.
