Southern Youth Ballet Southern Youth Ballet, Classical Ballet Academy, is dedicated to promoting youth in the arts. We believe in the importance of dance and all it has to offer.

At Southern Youth Ballet, we believe that the classical disciplines are essential to the artistic development of children. Classical Ballet offers a wealth of opportunity. From learning an art form filled with technique, musicality, and artistry to discovering self-discipline, self-responsibility, and accomplishment. Ballet requires dedication which will give much back in return. If you let it, Ballet will take you on an incredible journey.

Adult ballet is 10% technique, 90% convincing yourself to leave the house.

Some weeks you grand jeté into class. Some weeks you arrive like this. Both count. The 'pointe' is that you show up. 🩰

Will it be physically and mentally challenging? Absolutely. Arms. Feet. Head. Music. Counting. Technique. Style. All at once, while somehow trying to look graceful.

But funny how focusing on so many little things helps you let go of so many bigger ones. The stressful day at work. The to-do list. The frustration. The doubt. For an hour, there simply isn’t room for all of it. You’re too busy being here.

That’s the transformative magic of ballet.

So when the “will I, won’t I?” starts after a long day, remember how you feel after class.
