While this weekend didn’t give us the result we were looking for, we couldn’t be more proud of what we achieved this season. We set our minds to being the best we could be and we left it all on the pitch to the last whistle. Huge shoutout to our old boys for their support both on and off the field, the actives will never be able to explain how much this meant to us. Congrats to the Tradesmen on a great run and good luck in Nationals. Onto 7’s season and defending our Bourbon 10’s title.

The Hornets are heading to Super Regionals this Saturday, looking to secure our spot in the Elite 8. We have worked unbelievably hard since last fall to achieve this and be given the opportunity to represent our club, our city and the Mid-America Rugby Football Union on the national stage. The boys are primed and this week can’t go by fast enough.

The Hornets have secured their spot in Super Regionals with a dominant performance this weekend versus Springfield. From the start we came out firing and trying our best to stick to our game plan. Cohesive work by every member on the pitch was the name of the game against a big side. The celebration that night might still be felt by a few lads today.

Unfortunately, due to powers beyond our control, we have had to move today’s match to a different pitch. The only thing that’s changing is location, not intensity.

This Saturday the Hornets look to accomplish something that hasn’t been done in 14 years, though we’ve made the trip a few times, win our Division championship and punch our ticket to Super Regionals. At last nights team run the focus was on point and the intensity was omnipresent. Nothing left to say besides it’s almost time. Kickoff at 1p on central fields in Forest Park with a social to follow at pitch graciously provided by our Old Boys.

To call Saturday a classic hard-nosed, smash-mouth day of rugby would be an understatement. From whistle to whistle it was an absolute slugfest and the Hornets came out on top 18-22. A complete club effort from every member leaving it all on the pitch. When phases broke down our fitness and mental clarity carried the day. Huge shout out to our old boys for coming out to cheer us on and give us the extra boost. Onto the MARFU Finals this Saturday in Forest Park against Springfield.

The Hornets had their final practice before hosting KCRFC for the MARFU DIII semifinals and we are stoked to get the chance to show our hometown our lessons learned. With an unseen side, this is sure to be a blank canvas to put our boys to the test. And we are ready. Come on out to Central Fields in Forest Park for a 1pm kickoff, it’s sure to be a banger.

Springfield came out swinging but the Hornets ruled the day. Amazing performances from some of our young lads and a cohesive strategy that shown bright as we held strong even when things got messy. We are off this weekend in prep for our huge semifinal match vs. KCRFC at home in Forest Park on April 11th. The boys are buzzing for that next test.

The boys look to continue preparing for our finals run with a kickoff against Springfield at the Conference Crossover this weekend. 5 matches on 2 fields, culminating with our match at 2p, it will be a great day of rugby. We are looking forward to putting our lessons learned this spring into action to fine tune the Hornets engine. Time to hit the road.

Unfortunately, this weekend the Mercs weren’t able to field a side and had to forfeit but that didn’t stop us from getting a run in. Thanks to some Hornet old boys and recruits, we were still able to put some boots down. Not the way we wanted to clinch the top spot in our conference but it secured home field advantage for the semifinals. We are off this week and onto the conference crossover match next week.
