When Physical Therapy meets the ORIGINAL Pilates Mat. 🔥
What a privilege to share the traditional Pilates work with this incredible group from Fox Physical Therapy — 9 PTs, an intern, a receptionist, and a whole lot of athletic bodies ready to MOVE!
We started by talking the history of Pilates and our lineage Romana's Pilates International , then about where Physical Therapy and Pilates beautifully complement one another.
Physical therapy often has the important job of identifying and isolating areas of weakness, dysfunction or injury.
Pilates asks: Now how do we integrate and support that part into the WHOLE?
Because the body doesn’t move in isolation.
Then it was time to experience it. 😈
Standing calisthenics → the original Mat work → finishing on our feet with the Magic Circle to quite literally PULL IT ALL TOGETHER.
And this group came to play! 💪🔥
The Mat isn’t the “easy” Pilates. It’s the goal. Joseph Pilates developed his apparatus to support, challenge and educate the body toward what he called uniform development.
“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”
— Joseph H. Pilates
THAT is the goal. ❤️
Thank you, Fox Physical Therapy Fox Physical Therapy, for your curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to dive into the work.
Something tells me this is just the beginning. 😉
