Got plans Monday? Allow us to help!
We're so excited to welcome the SoCal Chef Open to Galway Downs on Monday, August 10! This year introduces an exciting new format, transforming the event into a true celebration of the region’s vibrant food and beverage scene. Formerly known as a culinary competition, the 2026 Chef Open evolves into “A Taste of Temecula Valley” — a dynamic, immersive experience that highlights the incredible talent and diversity of the area’s top restaurants, chefs, wineries, breweries, and bars.

Every month, we get to spotlight one of our incredible Galway Downs volunteers in the Galway Gazette -- one of our favorite (and most important) traditions!
Our volunteers make Galway Downs run, and we love giving them the recognition they deserve.
Know someone who deserves to be featured? (Or maybe it's you 👀) Send your suggestions to editor Kim F Miller at [email protected]. Nominate a fellow volunteer, or toss us an article idea while you're at it. We're always open to new stories!

🏇 BIG NEWS at Galway Downs! ☀️
We're building one of the biggest clear-span covered arenas in the West: Over 40,000 sq ft covering our former warm-up arena, measuring 177' x 250' with an adjacent hospitality area. Riders will finally have all-weather shelter to train rain or shine!
The roof is topped with solar panels generating enough energy to power 100% of our 240-acre property, representing a big investment in the future of equestrian sport AND sustainability.
From conception to completion, this project has been about a year in the making, and we can't wait to celebrate with all of you! Watch this space: an Arena Warming celebration is coming late summer! Stay tuned for details.

Meet Eric White: ultramarathoner, novelist, and our latest Volunteer Spotlight! 🌟
Eric came to eventing later in life, but he's making up for lost time. After 27 ultramarathons (including two Leadville 100 finishes!) and a childhood horse dream deferred by career and circumstance, he decided in 2022: "It was now or never."
He bought a green 3-year-old Arabian named Nascha, found trainer Chloe Smyth, and dove headfirst into eventing, progressing from Starter to Novice in just three years.
When Chloe was away for our March competition, Eric jumped into volunteering for the first time: jump-judging cross-country, then facing his fears with dressage scribing. "There's no other way to learn," he says. "Just like standing on the starting line of your first marathon."
Between training runs, riding sessions, and finishing his debut fantasy novel, Eric still makes time to give back in true Galway Downs spirit.
Thank you, Eric, for all you do for our volunteer community, and for showing us it's never too late to chase a bucket-list dream!
Want to get involved? Volunteer opportunities are always open -- watch this space for the latest openings!

Entrigue founder (and brains behind the Isabell Werth Masterclass coming in November) Kelly Artz's journey with Galway Downs has come full circle.
Kelly first called Galway home as a working student, helped run sponsorships and livestreaming for our CDI series back in 2018-19, and even showed here at Training and First Level before her move to the UK. Now she's back for the third year running, bringing world-class dressage education to the West Coast.
After sold-out Masterclasses with Ingrid Klimke and Carl Hester, this fall she's raising the bar with 14-time Olympic medalist Isabell Werth — the most decorated dressage rider in history.
Don't forget!
