This is a 2 minute excerpt of Culprit’s first “real” ride by hallee_akins with the help of Megan riding Posh for Culprit to follow. Typically I start them on the lunge line for this first ride to reinforce the go forward cues, but Culprit has been easy to move out all along, so we gave it a try without the lunge line and he didn’t need any help moving forward! Posh was helpful but he didn’t need to follow her very long either.
Hallee worked with c**ts a lot over the years at a ranch near her house in Spokane. So she’s confident which is crucial. Hallee has been here one week, messing with Culprit and gaining his trust. She’s been sitting on him ba****ck, flexing him and wandering ba****ck around the pasture.
Years ago I heard an old timer horse trainer say you’d better be loping by the 3rd ride. Excited that we checked that box on the first real ride ✅! I’m not really surprised considering slickjustice was very easy to start as well. Hallee said Culprit felt smooth and easy just like his Dad. 🤠
