This exterior cap was so full of lint, the damper couldn’t open. This is essentially like putting your hand over your mouth and trying to breathe. It not only lengthens your drying cycles, it deteriorates your equipment faster.

Dryer wasn’t drying the clothes… if your dryer can’t breathe, it can’t function properly. It costs less to clean your dryer vent than it does to repair your dryer.

When was the last time you had your dryer vent cleaned? The roof top caps are susceptible to moisture whether it’s rain or humidity. When the lint gets wet, it hardens. The damper hasn’t been able to open properly which was making the damper have to rub more for the clothes to completely dry.

It’s fire prevention week! Make sure to have your dryer vent serviced. It literally pays for itself.
* Roof top caps are often clogged due to the moisture hardening the lint. Once this happens, the vent can’t expel the lint and heat as easy. It starts backing up inside of the home and into the dryer. *

Noticed upon inspection, the flaps weren’t opening much with the dryer running. Prior owner had the damper replaced but never thought to check the duct or have it cleaned. We removed a birds nest that was restricting air flow and collecting all the lint in the duct
