Dear Rassie!!!!
First of all….was that a home game??? Jirrrreeee, 69,000 at the M&T Stadium, in Balti-moer!!!! How lekker to see the Green & Gold filling the stadium!!!! The conditions were hot and humid.
That was a war of attrition!!!! Relentless rugby, phase after phase, brilliant arial kicks and gathers and end to end rugby. 32 phases for the AB’s just before half time. This game was worthy of proper praise and a detailed match report.
THIS was Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry!!!! THIS was the beautiful game….of rugby!!!!
First half was brutal. End to end rugby, massive hits and incredible defence. Two tries a piece which was a fair reflection of the effort put in by both teams. 17-14, a penalty separated the teams. Morne van den Berg made a massive difference to the speed of the game and his distribution is on another level. Sacha finally stood up and produced, but his kicking was still dodgy. There is a lot said about Andre Esterhuizen, but the truth is that Damien De Allende could easily be a forward. A great try off the base of the ruck. Codie Taylor was monumental for the AB’s, he is a proper warrior. Will Jordan is and was a massive danger each time he had ball in hand. Our tight five produced the goods with strong carries from Wiese, Etsebeth and Marx’s. Willemse and Ho**er were insanely brilliant both under the high ball and chasing the up and unders. 80 tackles made by the forwards. Just a brilliant half!!!!
BTW, great refereeing in the first half!!!! Great the hear the touch judges (assistant referees) actually calling the game as well.
2 minutes into the second half and on comes new props,
Lood de Jager at lock and…..Esterhuizen at flank for Siya. A quick question, is Siya being protected with the World Cup in mind?? A massive rolling maul and the Boks scored quickly in the second. On comes the oldest Springbok in history, Deon Fourie replaces the massive Malcolm Marx. Another try in quick succession by PSDT. Sacha’s run was brilliant, loads of speed and power. Manie on for Williemse, interesting choice given how good Williemse was under the high ball and his positional play was world class. 29-14 and things were hotting up.
Reinach on for Sach….apples for pears me thinks??? Not a great replacement in that position. I have to say that Ethan Blackadder was immense for the ABs, he’s a big strong unit. He deserved a try. It got squeaky, 29-21 and all to play for.
How can head contact be penalised when two players run into each other??? And Jordie Barratt you are better than that, rolling around in the ground holding your face. Goodness me these rules are stupid. Make the players wear helmets……
Will Kurt-Lee Arendse please stand up!!!! Speed, precision and brilliance!!!! What a try!!!! You biscuit!!!! 34-21
Jasper Wiese was immense!!! 140 meters carried. 18 line breaks. Solid at 8!!!
Relentless pressure, speed and hunting the ball results in another try for the Boks. Cameron Hanekom is a man for the job!!!! 43-21, let’s go Bokke!!!
Beauden Barrat scores barely 3 minutes after coming into the field. Too little too late!!!
Final score 43-28!!!! What a win and 3 on the trot to ensure a series win and winners of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry. Absolutely brilliant!!!! We are the champions!!!
Rassie you are a genius, you got the boys back to their best.
Thank you Balti-moer!!!!
Let’s go Bokke, end of year tour to come. Let’s go give those Northern Hemisphere teams a klap.
