Westcoast Warriors will be donating R3,000 to the NSRI following the swimmers support at the Frosty Friday Island Winter Solstice Swim today. Keeping us safe....!

Great day out at the Frosty Friday Island Winter Solstice 1.6km Open Water Swim! Congratulations to all the swimmers for braving the cold and embracing the challenge!

We had great weather conditions for the race!

Thank you to Strandloper and to Friday Island for the treats before and after the race, and to NSRI, Dries and all the paddlers who were supporting the swimmers during the event, and to the volunteers (Adele, Rob, Sally, Peter and Liz) for helping at registration and the finish.

Entries for the Frosty Friday Island Swim on Sunday 21st June will be closing on Wednesday17th. We have close to 100 swimmers braving the chilly waters and sharing in the camaraderie of the Winter Solstice swim. We will not be able to accept further entries after Wed, so if you want to join the fun get your entry in now.

Westcoast Warriors are "Skrik vir Niks", but the Frosty Swim day creeps every nearer, and we only have a few places left.....If you are "on the fence" you can still join the nearly 100 swimmers who will be braving the chill on 21st June so get that entry in asap.

Just a reminder about the swim route on Sunday 21st.....we will kick off at the Strandloper Restaurant beachfront at around 10am, and swim in a southerly direction along the coastline to finish at the Friday Island beachfront - 1,6k - with NSRI in close watch on the water. Coffee and rusks at the Strandloper to get you ready, and hot chocolate (gratis, free and for nothing) at the finish courtesy of Friday Island Restaurant. It gonna be chilly so warm clothes at the finish, and a lovely special brekkies awaits...

Friday Island Accommodation is offering wonderful prizes for the "Frosty" Winter Solstice Swim on Sunday 21st. The Lucky Draw pot will include ; 2 x vouchers for a nights stay for 2pax (one in Sea- facing room and one in the Courtyard), "Fridaze" T-shirts, and bottles of wine.
In addition, for anyone wanting to stay at Friday Island that weekend, they are offering a free Sunday night stay if you book for Friday and Saturday at R1,000 for 2 pax/night in a Courtyard room, and R1,500 for 2 pax/night for a Sea-facing room. If you are single the rates will be R800 for a Courtyard room and R1,200 for a Sea-facing room.
These are "special" Frosty swimmers rates so book early to secure your stay.

Westcoast Warriors at the False Bay Express. A 6k swim from Fishoek beach to Simons Town. Flattish water at 15c. Catch up with old friends and swimming buddies "from that side !"

The Strandloper Restaurant will be providing "free of charge, gratis, and for nothing"....fresh Moer coffee and rusks at the pre-swim gathering prior to the warm-up stretch on the beach with Marlene. Thanks for your support Justin....good way to prepare for a chilly winter solstice swim !

The "Ditch the Couch" bus will be transporting swimmers from Friday Island to Strandloper on Sunday morning for the Frosty swim. Alison will be your host and driver....first trip departs 8am.
