Kirsty Weir smashed her targets for today in the 3000m, 1500m and 800m races. Running 3 PB's in less than 2 hours is not an easy task!

While the team from Mossel Bay Municipality is busy preparing the van Riebeeck stadium for the SWD FIRST LEAGUE, MULTISURE CORPORATION KAROO & COASTAL REGION RUGBY FINALS of Saturday we are once again left without a proper training facility.

Fortunately, we can adapt and use other available spaces rather than giving up.

PS - this post is not to moan... We are thankful for the facilities that we have at the van Riebeeck stadium, and how the Mossel Bay Municipality maintains the facility.

It is still nice to dream of a dedicated athletics facility!

Javelin sensors that record release angle, rotation, speed, height and flight trajectory are being trialled this month aimed at giving throwers, coaches and fans extra performance data.

The insight will come from fitting a sensor to javelins and relaying the signal back immediately using a wireless radio connection.

The sensors have many purposes so there had to be a project set up to make it relevant to athletics.

The plan to do this kicked off before the World Championships in Tokyo, but it took several months to improve the technology.

A demo is planned for the warm-up arena on the Friday morning prior to the end of season finale in Budapest.

Generally technology is providing more and more data to improve understanding and performance, though athletes tend to take different approaches to using it.
