Maties ParaSport

Sport club for persons with Physical Disabilities based at the University of Stellenbosch Parasport is sport for people with a disability.

It is "para"llel to sport for able-bodied athletes, with adapted equipment or rules to make the game fun and accessible for everyone. There are also some parasports that do not have an able-bodied equivalent.

At the 19th SA Sports Awards in Sun City on Sunday night, Simoné Kruger was named Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability

The president of SASAPD, Jean Miggels, said: “We are so proud of our ultimate achievers,who are examples of what can be accomplished through hard work, dedication and an unyielding commitment to being role models for so many others in the para sport movement.

The judges' citations read: “Simoné Kruger has once again shown what is possible when talent meets relentless commitment. Tonight, we celebrate her achievements and her place among South Africa's sporting greats.”
