Pretty much every day, I get emails, DMs, WhatsApps or calls about late arrivals or late cancellations: stuck in traffic, Öffis aren’t running, work ran late, suddenly ill, something happened with the kids.
And I get it. Life happens.
But VieL is a small, independently run studio. While I have wonderful support from Astrid (who I’ll properly introduce soon), our teachers and our Helfies, the day-to-day management sits with me. What feels like a one-off exception to you is, for me, something that happens every single day - sometimes multiple times - and I can’t make an individual decision about each one.
Before running a studio myself, I always thought these boundaries were kind of self-explanatory. I’m learning that they’re not and that communicating them clearly is part of my job too.
That’s why we have clear boundaries:
Please arrive on time (ideally 5-10 minutes before class starts). The door closes when class begins, and late entry isn’t possible. Bookings can be cancelled up to 6 hours before class, after that, the credit is used and the class counts as taken.
These boundaries aren’t there to punish anyone. They let me run the studio reliably, give our teachers planning security, and apply the same rules to everyone.
Mindfulness also means respecting each other’s time, work and boundaries.
Thank you for understanding and for helping me take care of this little space. ♡
Lena
