🎪 DID YOU KNOW?

The traditional circus ring is approximately 42 feet, or 13 metres, across.

This size was popularised by Philip Astley, widely regarded as the father of modern circus. Astley discovered that riding in a circle of this size helped performers use centrifugal force to maintain their balance while completing tricks on horseback.

More than 250 years later, the ring remains one of the great symbols of circus.

Different apparatus. Different disciplines. Different generations.

One ring.

Circus has a place for everyone and your journey can begin at any age 🎪🔥

For toddlers, it starts with curiosity, movement and the confidence to try something new.

For children, it grows into aerials, acrobatics, parkour, performance and skills they never imagined they could master.

For teenagers, it becomes a place to challenge themselves, express their creativity and find a community where they belong.

For adults, it is a chance to build strength, learn extraordinary skills and rediscover the joy of doing something completely different.

Whether you are taking your first step or ready for your next challenge, there is a place for you at South Coast Circus.

Circus is movement with a purpose.

Every climb, balance, vault, catch, roll and sequence develops something; strength, coordination, courage, control or trust.

But circus has never been only about physical ability. It asks you to create, persist, support others and believe that the thing you cannot do yet may eventually become the thing you do best.

That is why we teach circus as an art, not simply as a sport.

Term 4 enrolments are now open across our range of circus disciplines and age groups.
