Sand in his bits, a face full of water and a smile that wouldnā€™t leave his face!

Grant Denyer swapped the TV studio for the driverā€™s seat at the 2026 Custom Lithium Don River Dash and discovered that off road racing is a little different to anything heā€™d tackled before.

He called The Don ā€œepicā€ and a ā€œmega eventā€ ā€” and even jumped into the commentary booth the next morning to relive his adventure.

Every year, the team at Bowen Tourism & Business provides the Custom Lithium Don River Dash with behind the scenes support that is very much appreciated.

From helping us with media releases and suggesting ways to get the word out, to promoting the event to the many visitors who stop at the iconic Big Mango along the highway, their support makes a real difference.

Weā€™re grateful to the Bowen Tourism & Business team for getting behind the Don River Dash and helping visitors discover whatā€™s happening in Bowen each September.

Here at the Don River Dash, weā€™re so grateful for the support of Tourism and Events Queensland.

TEQ supported us in 2025 and again in 2026, helping us spread the word far and wide about the Custom Lithium Don River Dash and put Bowen and the Whitsundays on the map as a destination for off road racing.

Their support also helped us create a more welcoming event experience. If you were at the Showgrounds this year, you may have noticed some of the quieter touches - the things that donā€™t necessarily shout for attention, but make a real difference to how an event feels.

Weā€™re proud of how the Don continues to grow, and weā€™re very grateful to have Tourism and Events Queensland behind us as we work to make the event bigger, better and even more welcoming each year.

Behind the Don: Whitsunday Regional Council

Every year, Whitsunday Regional Council quietly supports many, many events across our region, and the Custom Lithium Don River Dash is fortunate to be one of them.

We simply couldnā€™t do what we do without their support.

From logistical planning and permits, through to helping us actually deliver the event, Councilā€™s support is a crucial part of making the Don happen.

And this year, they went a step further, supporting some special entertainment for our youngest visitors - a free electric dirt bike Come & Try experience running across all three days of the event.

It was hugely popular with the kids, with plenty of budding riders getting their first taste of two wheels. We may even have had a future Don River Dash competitor take their very first ride with us!

A big thank you to Whitsunday Regional Council for the support you provide to the Don, and to events right across our region. We really do appreciate it.

Volunteers of the Don, we salute you!

Hereā€™s just a few of the many volunteers who helped us bring the 2026 Custom Lithium Don River Dash to life.

From admin and set up, to line up marshals, sweeps, recoveries and the pack down crew - weā€™re grateful for every single one of you. The Don simply wouldnā€™t happen without you.

Thank you for giving your time, your energy and, in many cases, a very early start (and a very long day!) to help make the event what it is.

Weā€™re already looking forward to seeing you all again - hopefully at the Don in 2027!
