Back strains, what are they?
Back strains are injuries to the muscles, tendons/ ligaments in the back. Back strains are common injuries that can be caused by overuse, improper lifting, or sudden, awkward movements. Symptoms of back strains may include muscle spasms, pain, stiffness, and standing upright or difficulty moving
It is recommended that you remain active when you have a back pain and do as much as your body will tolerate. This can be done by walking, simple light stretches or if you need to you may want to consider seeing one of our exercise physiologists.
If your back is hurting, what is stopping you from making an appointment?

Motivation, what is it?
Is it something that you need to go and find?
Is it something you’re born with?
Everyone in life has their own forms of motivation. Some people find their motivation through doing well in sport/ life. Some of us are motivated by our families and making sure they are never in the struggles of life. Then there are the ones who are motivated by money and always wondering how they can make more.
Whatever your motivation is, there are a couple things that can help you. The first thing is to change your mindset, change it from a glass half empty to glass half full. After you do this and you are now looking at the world with a glass half full mindset, set yourself a goal and work towards meeting this goal. To make sure that you don’t get discouraged in this journey, just keeping putting one foot in front of the other or you can break it down into smaller steps. One framework that can lead to successful outcomes is setting SMART goals.
If you are on the verge of giving in, think about your future self and how you will feel at the end. When you get to your end point, you will be able to look back on your journey and smile!

Every time we do a staff spotlight, we do it on one of the employee’s that started here in the recent years. But today we are doing it on the person who started 6 months after Fiona, thar’s Nick!
Nick is our Operations Manager here and does everything behind the scenes. He does it all but does not see any clients. If there is a sport being played, Nick will instantly be hooked as his main interest is anything to do with sport. But if he was asked what sports he would choose to play, his answer would be soccer and cricket. Whenever the West Tigers have a home game, you can count on Nick being one of the cheering fans. Even through watching and supporting sport is a massive part of Nick’s life, spending time with his family comes out on top.
To go with all the sport Nick is a fan of, he represented Australia in Deaf Soccer from 2005 to 2016!
When he was out training, what do you reckon he was listening to?
It would be 1 of 3 things- Either 80’s and 90’s RnB, Eye of the Tiger or Shaggy!
All different, but all great pieces of music!
Now you would know that both Nick and Fiona are Deaf. But did you know that Nick was born deaf, but Fiona wasn’t. Up until Nick was 28 years old, he used hearing aids. But he was never going to let them stop him from living his life, as his first job was stacking the shelves at IGA!
Like many of us Nick’s favorite food is pizza but guess what? If Nick was on a stranded island and could only take 3 things, pizza would not be one of them. He would take a soccer ball to keep him entertained, sunscreen as he burns easily and his medication.
When Nick was asked If your life could say one word, what word would it be?
What do you think he said?
Maybe sport or family?
Nope, Nick said “happy”
Being happy is the greatest feeling!
Nick is a big family man, as he feels like family is the most important thing in life. His biggest inspiration in life is the man who has guided him from childhood, his dad!
Nick, we love having you part of our TRS family and don’t know what we would do without you!
