Yesterday DBACT hosted a group from Canto Parents of Canberra ๅŽๅŸนๆ‹‰็ฒค่ชžๅฎถ้•ท็พค The group had a tour and their littlest members got to be hands on with our Dragon Boats. It was an awesome opportunity for the group to come together and maintain connection to language, culture and tradition. We think we might have found some future Junior paddlers.

Invictus Dragon Boat Club had the privilege of supporting the Terry Campese Foundation Youth Mentor Program, an initiative dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship, leadership, resilience, and connection.

As a club built on teamwork, belonging, and community, it was an honour to share our sport and spend time with a group of inspiring young people. Dragon boating is about so much more than paddling; it's about trust, communication, supporting each other, and discovering what can be achieved when people work together towards a common goal.

We hope that every young person who stepped into our boats today left with a sense of achievement, confidence, and connection. Just as importantly, we hope they felt the warmth of a community that believes in them and wants to see them succeed.

A huge thank you to the Terry Campese Foundation for the incredible work they do in creating opportunities for young people to grow, learn, and thrive. We are proud to have played a small part in their journey.

Yesterday at Grevillea Park one of our DBACT paddlers had their paddle blessed in a special ceremony with Tim Kareko and staff from the New Zealand High Commission.

Your paddle will cross many oceans and explore many rivers and lakes with you along your journey, as you become better so will your paddle, the more you give the more you will receive.

Congratulations Angus

Please join AusDBF in congratulating Angus Jones who is the Flag Bearer for the inaugural Australian University Team.

Angus Jones is a graduate of University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a background in film production. He loves dragon boating for the challenge, teamwork and strong sense of community, which has taken him across Australia and around the world.

As part of the inaugural university team, Angus saw the chance to help build something new while continuing to grow as a paddler. Away from the water, he enjoys running, cycling, pub trivia, collecting records and planning his next trip.
