CONGRATULATIONS DUC MAC! 👏⚽️

Congratulations to Marist Football Life Member Duc Mac, who was named Referee of the Year for the Capital League Women’s competition at the Capital Football Awards Night on Friday.

A former Marist Referee Coordinator and continuing committee member, Duc remains a valued mentor to our young referees and a great source of support and experience for those who have followed him in the coordinator role.

On any given game day at Marist, you are just as likely to find Duc out on the pitch refereeing a match as you are to see him behind the camera, capturing the fantastic images of our players and teams that we share throughout the season.

While this award recognises Duc’s refereeing achievements beyond Marist, we are incredibly proud to have him as a Life Member and continuing contributor to our Club, and delighted to see someone who has given so much to football and our Marist community receive this well-deserved recognition.

SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAY SPORTS CAMPS ⚽️🏀🏏

International Sports Camps Australia is offering Marist students 35% off its upcoming Spring School Holiday Sports Camps in Canberra.

Running at Canberra Grammar School, Red Hill on 7–9 October, the three-day camps are available for boys and girls aged 5–15, with programs covering football, basketball and cricket.

The programs run from 8:45am–3:00pm each day and include experienced coaches, specialist coaching and guest visits from professional players, with additional video analysis and individual coaching reports included in selected programs.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP 🏆

Congratulations to Daniel Rothenfluh, who has been awarded Life Membership of Marist Football in recognition of more than a decade of outstanding service to our Club.

Daniel's involvement began in 2016 and, over the years, he has contributed in almost every capacity imaginable – as a team manager, coach, equipment manager, grading coordinator, Vice-President and ultimately Club President from 2023 to 2025.

For many years, Daniel was a reassuring presence at the grounds every Saturday – always the first to arrive and the last to leave. Whether setting up fields, coaching, supporting referees, maintaining equipment or helping wherever needed, his quiet commitment to the Club and our players has been unwavering.

Throughout his service, Daniel has led with determination, integrity and professionalism, always focused on what was best for the boys. His support has also continued beyond his Presidency, generously sharing his experience and knowledge to help ensure a smooth transition for those following him.

We also acknowledge Daniel's family, who have shared so much of his time with Marist Football over the years.

Daniel leaves an enduring legacy of service, steadiness and care that will continue to shape our Club for years to come.

Congratulations to Paul Garth of Under 10 Navy, our 2026 Junior Coach of the Year!

From his first week with the team, Paul brought a positive approach and created an environment where players with different skills, personalities and playing styles could come together and play with confidence and purpose.

Central to Paul's coaching has been an emphasis on sportsmanship, respect and accountability. He encourages his players to respect their opponents, learn from mistakes and setbacks, celebrate their successes, and always give their best.

Through his example, Paul has reinforced that football is about much more than winning – it is about teamwork, respect, responsibility and supporting those around you.

Congratulations to Aidan Rothenfluh, our 2026 Senior Player of the Year!

A Marist Football player for nine years, Aidan has consistently demonstrated dedication, skill and passion for the game, while leading by example through his support and encouragement of those around him.

His contribution also extends well beyond playing. Aidan has served as a referee for many years, mentoring younger referees and supporting our Referee Coordinator, while regularly volunteering to help around the grounds on game days.

Throughout the season, Lachlan consistently gave his very best, approaching every training session and match with determination, enthusiasm and a positive attitude that encouraged those around him.

Beyond his football ability, Lachlan demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, treating teammates, opponents, officials and coaches with respect. Congratulations to Jack O'Neill, our 2026 Referee of the Year and recipient of the Richard Barrington-Knight Trophy!

Referees are a critical and valued part of Marist Football, and our games simply could not take place without their commitment and service.

At just 15 years of age, Jack has established himself as one of our most valued match officials, demonstrating confidence and exceptional game management. His performances have seen him referee Under 18 matches as well as NPL games, highlighting his considerable promise and potential as a referee.

Congratulations to our 2026 Year 12 Service Award recipients, recognising boys who have played for Marist Football for six or more consecutive years.
