A special thank you to Juventus U9s for inviting the Belsouth Comets to play at GEO during their Italia Repubblica Day last weekend.

Our parent support crew arrived in style with signs and plenty of enthusiasm, while the Juventus family put on a fantastic atmosphere with Italian music, warm hospitality and a mighty day of football.

It was a wonderful experience for our boys and a reminder of what makes community football so special.

Congratulations to Canberra Juventus FC on a fantastic event and thank you for making the Comets feel so welcome.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Training Update ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

After ongoing rain and with more wet weather forecast, all training for U15s and below is cancelled for the remainder of this week.

With many junior teams having a bye this weekend, we've made the decision to prioritise the long-term health of our fields and give them the best chance to recover for future matches.

โšฝ U16s, U18s and Adult teams: Training is not currently cancelled, however field access will be assessed daily and updates provided as conditions change.

We know this is frustrating, particularly at this stage of the season. Please understand that our focus is on ensuring we have safe, playable fields for competition. We are continuing discussions with the ACT Government regarding repairs and longer-term improvements to the Hawker grounds.

Looking ahead, we'll soon release an updated training allocation plan that will utilise two fields at a time, allowing a third field to rest and recover. Every team will continue to have access to at least one session at Hawker, although training locations and times may change.

For teams seeking an additional training session, we have secured access to Canberra High on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:00pmโ€“8:30pm. Teams interested in these sessions should speak with their Team Manager, who can contact Dave to arrange access.

Thanks for your patience, understanding and support as we work through a challenging period for our fields. โšฝ

โšฝ Field Inspection Update โšฝ

We've completed a field inspection and have some good news and some bad news.

๐Ÿ”ด Field 1 is closed for training 1-Jun Monday and 2-Jun Tuesday due to damage. Repairs have been requested and we'll re-inspect on Wednesday.

๐ŸŸข Field 2 is open for training, however please avoid using the large goal area.

๐ŸŸก Field 3 is open, but there are some rough patches. Please use common sense when setting up drills.

With more rain forecast tonight, there may be further changes tomorrow. We're taking a field-by-field approach to minimise damage while still providing as many training opportunities as possible.

To help teams affected by the Field 1 closure, we've secured a pitch at Canberra High on Friday from 5:00pmโ€“8:30pm. Going forward, Tuesday and Friday make-up training sessions will also be available at Canberra High, with access rotated between teams each week.

๐Ÿ“ž Teams wishing to access these sessions should contact Dave via your Team Manager.

Looking ahead to Saturday, we may utilise Walhallow fields more heavily to help preserve our Murranji surfaces. We appreciate everyone's flexibility and continued support of the canteen, even when games are relocated.

๐Ÿ’œ Have you got your purple socks yet? Our weekends are fast approaching on 25โ€“26 July and 1โ€“2 August, and weโ€™d love to see every Belsouth team helping turn the fields purple.

By pulling on a pair of purple socks, you're helping raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and supporting the important work of Pankind, Pancreatic Cancer Australia. Every pair purchased contributes to research, advocacy and support for those affected by one of Australiaโ€™s toughest common cancers.

Get your teammates, coaches, parents and supporters involved and let's make a big impact together.

๐Ÿฅถ Winter is comingโ€ฆ so weโ€™ve also stocked a limited number of our โ€œProperty of Belsouthโ€ hoodies!

Available in adult sizes Small to XXL for $66 while stocks last at the Merch Shed.

28-May: Hawker Fields CLOSED for training.

After inspecting all three fields today, weโ€™ve made the decision to rest the grounds tonight ๐ŸŒง๏ธโšฝ๏ธ

While some areas are holding up, there are a number of muddy, worn and waterlogged patches, particularly around the ends of the fields, and ongoing light rain has kept surfaces slippery and soft.

We know players are keen to train, but protecting the fields now gives us the best chance of safe and playable conditions for Saturday football.

Thanks for helping us look after our grounds.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Merch Shed Update

Good news! By Round 5 weโ€™re hoping most players have successfully acquired the two most important football items:
๐Ÿงฆ Socks & Shorts

๐Ÿ•˜ Merch shed hours will now be: Saturdays from 9amโ€“11am
(We might stay open later if things get busyโ€ฆ but no guarantees and definitely no bribes accepted in the form of coffee โ˜•)

From Saturday 27 June, the merch shed wonโ€™t be opening regularly each weekend. If we do pop it open, weโ€™ll let everyone know via Facebook and the Belsouth website.

๐Ÿšจ If you have a genuine merch emergency (weโ€™re talking โ€œmy kid has outgrown their shorts overnightโ€ levels of emergency), please ask your manager or coach to contact our Vice President:
๐Ÿ“ง [email protected]

Stay warm, stay muddy, and see you at the fields ๐Ÿ’™โšฝ
