For more than 25 years, the Special Olympics program has given people with intellectual and physical disabilities a place to try new things, make lifelong friends and be themselves
None of it happens without the coaches, volunteers and families who turn up every week. Here are a few of them ✨
MEET COACH KERRY 🤍
Kerry began coaching Special Olympics in 1998, when the program had just six athletes. Today, that little group has grown into a thriving community of 21 athletes!
Her dedication to inclusion and the athletes she supports has helped create a place where gymnasts can challenge themselves, discover what they’re capable of and celebrate every achievement. Her incredible contribution has even been recognised with an Inclusion Award.
Kerry, what you’ve helped build over the years is so special. We’re incredibly grateful to have you!

MEET COACH FRED 🤍
Fred’s journey began when his son, Patrick, joined the program at 16. Now 31, Patrick continues to train and compete in Special Olympics, while Fred continues to volunteer as a coach.
Alongside his wife, Jenny, who volunteers as a judge and helps train other judges, Fred has helped create more opportunities for athletes to participate, compete and feel included.

MEET COACHES NARELLE & TRACEY 🤍
As parents of athletes in the program themselves, Narelle and Tracey understand firsthand how important it is to have a place where their children are welcomed, encouraged and supported to be themselves.
They bring that understanding, care and passion into their coaching, helping other athletes and families experience that same sense of belonging.
