DAVID SINFIELD MERIT AWARD WINNER ⭐️
Last night Team Hammers attended the 74th SSFA Dinner to recognise the efforts and achievements of all clubs across the 2026 season.
Whilst we didn’t come away with any of the team awards, our very own David Sinfield was a recipient of a Merit Award to showcase his outstanding contributions to clubs and the football community. We love you Sini!!
“Marton Football Club is proud to nominate David Sinfield for the SSFA Merit Award in recognition of his outstanding and longstanding contribution to both our club and football within the Sutherland Shire.
David has been involved with Marton Football Club for over 35 years as a player, coach, committee member, mentor and volunteer. This season marks an incredible milestone of 35 years as an active player for the Hammers, a testament to his loyalty, commitment, and passion for the game.
Over the years, David has undertaken numerous committee roles, always stepping forward whenever the club has needed support. He has served as Club Coach, Competition Secretary, and has held the position of Vice President for the past eight years. His leadership, experience, and willingness to assist wherever required have made him an integral part of the fabric of Marton Football Club.
David's contribution extends far beyond administration. He has been involved in coaching in some capacity for approximately 30 years, helping develop generations of players across both junior and senior football. Even today, his commitment remains unwavering. During the 2026 season, David is coaching three teams while continuing to assist and mentor several other coaches throughout the club.
His dedication has been recognised previously by Marton Football Club. In 2011, David was awarded Life Membership as a Player, acknowledging his significant contribution on the field, and in 2018 he was recognised as the club's Senior Club Person of the Year. These honours reflect the esteem in which he is held by members past and present.
However, awards alone do not adequately capture David's impact. For over three decades he has been a constant presence at Kingswood Road Oval, whether playing, coaching, attending committee meetings, supporting club events, lending a hand wherever needed, or his favourite celebrating with a winning Hammers team. He has dedicated countless volunteer hours to ensuring Marton Football Club continues to thrive and remains a welcoming environment for players and families alike.
The SSFA Merit Award recognises individuals who have made exceptional contributions to football in our association. Marton Football Club can think of few people more deserving of this honour than David Sinfield. His selfless service, leadership, and unwavering commitment have positively impacted hundreds of players and volunteers over the past 35 years, and his legacy within our club will continue for many years to come.”
