Victory for Reds in Round of 64 🔥

The Laffy Ladies have potentially caused one of the biggest upsets of the CTF Women’s League Cup, travelling away from home to defeat 2024 Cup winners and last year’s runners-up, Wembley Downs, with a hard-fought 3-1 victory.

La Fiamma made the perfect start when Paige Carslake found the bottom corner inside the opening 15 minutes. The lead was short-lived, however, as Wembley equalised just five minutes later. Wembley held the upper hand for much of the first half. Their physical and experienced side prevented La Fiamma from playing the slick tiki-taka football we’ve become accustomed to seeing. Every challenge was fiercely contested, forcing our girls off the ball and turning the midfield battle into a tough, physical contest.

After some encouraging words at half-time and a renewed belief in themselves, the girls emerged with the confidence that they belonged on this stage. Following 25 minutes of determined effort, La Fiamma earned a set piece just outside the 18-yard box. Step forward Olivia Bidwell, who unleashed an absolute belter to restore the lead and make it 2-1. With confidence growing, La Fiamma began to take control. Wembley started to tire, while our ladies continued to press relentlessly. Their efforts were rewarded when Indiana Burns sealed the result with a simple finish from close range. The final 10 minutes were a true display of determination, stamina, and heart from our ladies in green as they saw out a memorable 3-1 victory.

The draw for the Round of 32 is still to come. Before then, the ladies return to league action against Chapman Athletic at Rovers, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm Monday Night.

The Flames Are Burning Bright! Another massive weekend for Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma.

On Sunday, the Reds took on Wembley Downs in Round 7 of the Perth State Amateur League. Simuteya Sikazwe opened the scoring just 50 seconds after the opening whistle, setting the tone early. Kumbi Dzoma and Sikazwe continued the relentless attacking pressure, with both players adding another two goals each from a series of quick counter-attacks. An unmarked corner allowed Wembley Downs to claw one back, but La Fiamma still took a commanding 5-1 lead into the break.

The second half proved to be a tale of two halves. Following Sikazwe’s first club hat-trick, he was substituted and two unfortunate own goals suddenly gave Wembley a glimmer of hope. However, La Fiamma quickly regained control when Luca Emili challenged the keeper in a 50/50 contest. The ball fell kindly into Emili’s path, allowing him to calmly finish into an open net and score his first goal for the Mighty Reds.

The victory sees La Fiamma remain undefeated and on top of the table heading into this week’s blockbuster away fixture against Murdoch Melville, who also remain unbeaten and level on points with the Reds.

Thank you to Wembley for making the trip to Geraldton⚽️

After a flying start, the game quickly tightened up, with North Beach scoring just before half time and again early in the second half. The boys remain undefeated after a hard-fought 2-2 draw away against league leaders Subiaco AFC. Al Muportaringa opened the scoring before Subiaco hit back with two unanswered goals. A late second-half penalty from Kumbi Dzoma secured a well-earned point on the road. 👏
