In 1990, Guy was running aerobics classes in community halls and selling leotards from a little shop in Liverpool Street with his partner, Debbie. Then he found a circuit concept that really got people fit, and a spare room upstairs to run it in. All he needed was the right person to help.
So in 1991, Guy wrote Terry a letter. Terry was racing triathlon in France at the time, and the letter was full of Guy's usual jokes and one big idea. Terry read it in his Citroën, laughed, and never went back.
Thirty-six years, four locations and a great many leotards later, it's official: today we've handed over the keys to Michael Behrakis.
Thank you. Many of you have trained with us for 20 or even 30-plus years. You made this place what it is.
The best part of this job has never been the gym. It's walking in the door to a room full of friends.
Thank you for 36 wonderful years. See you on the gym floor.
