RESULTS ARE IN — The Agency Hobart Duathlon, Race 1
What a way to open the Winter Series! More than 50 athletes, aged 12 to 60-plus, took on the closed course at MyState Bank Arena on Sunday, 30 August. Cold start, hot racing, just don't mention the wind.
📊 Full results: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LXjtpdfB04qyMf8Qzf0IZw-bma1SH5hQ/view
SPRINT (5km run / 18km ride / 2.5km run)
🥇 Men
1️⃣ Mark Barrenger — 1:03:23
2️⃣ Oliver Cook — 1:04:17
3️⃣ John Gregory — 1:04:50
Just 87 seconds covered the whole men's podium. And take a bow, John Gregory — third across the line outright and first in the 60+ category. Some people simply refuse to read their birth certificate.
🥇 Women
1️⃣ Bethany Allen — 1:05:55
2️⃣ Bonnie Davies — 1:11:33
3️⃣ Rosie Nash — 1:17:59
Bethany came home 4th overall in a field of 42, only two and a half minutes off the outright win. Outstanding day out.
SHORT COURSE (2.5km run / 8km ride / 1.25km run)
🥇 Men
1️⃣ Theo Taberlay — 38:35
2️⃣ Joey Jefferson — 39:49
3️⃣ Ethan Buckley — 41:14
🥇 Women
1️⃣ Heidi Cetkovic — 46:12
2️⃣ Jo Cook — 56:36
3️⃣ Eliza Grey — 1:00:18
The entire men's short course podium was 12–14 year olds. The kids are coming, and they are not slowing down for anyone.
Finish of the day: Mark Blake and Jo Cook crossed the line 0.22 of a second apart — 56:36.04 to 56:36.26 — both winning their 60+ categories on the way through. Neither gave an inch. The timing gear earned its keep.
TEAMS
A special mention to Rob Chamberlain's team, who took out the teams category in 1:14:15. Undefeated. Unbeaten. Untroubled. Also, the only team entered. A flawless record and absolutely nobody around to dispute it.
Think you could take them? Grab a mate, split the legs, and enter a team for Race 2. Someone has to end this dynasty.
📅 RACE 2 — Sunday 20 September, 10:00am, MyState Bank Arena
Sprint and Short Course, plus Pete McKenna's Try a Tri TRYstars for the 7–12s from 9am. Members race for just $30.
