Another epic weekend in Stirlings. ๐Ÿ”

The ANZAC long weekend delivered everything we love about climbing in WA. Good routes,
good people, and one of the most iconic settings around.

Trips like this are a regular part of the CAWA calendar, so if you missed out this time, head

๐Ÿง— Gym Crash at Portside Boulders, O'Connor!

Come climb, eat, and chat with your CAWA crew this June 9th at 6:00 PM!

Here's the plan: show up, send some boulders, then refuel on pizza before battling it out in a game and a physical challenge. Prizes on the line, good vibes guaranteed.

This is a great chance to meet fellow members, climb at an awesome gym, and have a proper community night out. All skill levels welcome, whether you're pulling hard or just here for the pizza (no judgement ๐Ÿ•).

๐Ÿฅ‡ History made. Australia, we have a gold medallist!

A massive congratulations to Oceana Mackenzie on winning the Women's Boulder final at the World Climbing Series Bern 2026! Her first World Climbing Series gold, and the first ever for Australia.

Oceana topped three boulders in the final, including a brilliant beta break on the fourth to seal the win with 74.5 points, and what a moment it was to watch unfold. She described herself as "still a little in shock" after the result. We reckon that's fair enough! ๐Ÿ™Œ

From all of us at CAWA and the WA climbing community, we are so incredibly proud. This is the kind of moment that inspires every climber, from the gym to the crag.
Keep crushing it! ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

The CAWA Film Festival is back for 2026, and if you have been thinking about putting a film together, this is your nudge to get started.

There is plenty to play for this year, with a $500 CAWA Film Award, Peopleโ€™s Choice prizes of $300 and $150, plus the opportunity to earn a share of ticket sales if your film is selected for screening. It is a great chance to have your work seen, celebrated, and enjoyed by the WA climbing community on the big screen.

Submissions close 15 October, and the screening will be held on 12 November at Luna Leederville.

Start filming, start editing, or start digging through your footage. We cannot wait to see what stories come in this year.

This is your last chance to apply for the CAWA Scholarship Program 2026 and 2027.

Applications are now open until 31 May, with two scholarships, each worth $1,500, available to support climbers in WA. One is the Experienced Scholarship for climbers with 4 or more years of outdoor climbing experience, and one is the Novice Scholarship for anyone with less than 4 years of outdoor climbing experience, including indoor climbers looking to transition outdoors.

Whether you are building outdoor experience, chasing a project, stepping into competition climbing, or working toward a goal that matters to you, this is a great chance to back your progression with real support. CAWA is looking for applicants with clear goals, strong intent, and a genuine desire to grow.

If you have been thinking about applying, take this as your sign to get it done. Head to the scholarship page for full details and to apply.

Programs like this are one way CAWA invests directly in climbers and helps strengthen the WA climbing community.

It is never easy to say goodbye to a place that has meant so much to so many.

Rockface Climbing Centre has been a genuine and longstanding supporter of the WA climbing community, and we want to take a moment to recognise everything they have given over the years. From hosting events and offering member discounts to always showing up when support was needed, their contribution has gone far beyond the walls of the gym.

CAWA is incredibly grateful for the role Rockface has played in helping build connection, opportunity, and community within climbing in WA. Thank you for the support, the generosity, and the care you have shown our community over the years. Your impact will be felt for a long time to come.

Our channel will showcase the breadth of climbing in Western Australia, from iconic outdoor crags to indoor events, competitions, workshops, trip recaps, advocacy updates, and the stories that make our community what it is.
