It is with much sadness that we acknowledge the passing of James Dunn, Managing Director of Expressway Spares Pty Ltd. James and Expressway Spares Pty Ltd have been a big supporter of our club for the past 4 seasons. We are grateful to James contribution to our partnership and his support of our local community.
Our thoughts go out to James family, friends and the team at Expressway Spares Pty Ltd during this difficult time.
VALE - JAMES DUNN
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing of James Dunn, our Managing Director. James was the grandson of our founders and took over the role of Managing Director from Patrick Cassegrain, his uncle, three years ago.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with James’ wife and children, his parents and siblings, and the extended family who are struggling to come to terms with the loss. We will continue to support them in every way that we can.
James had a huge passion for the family business, and it is incredibly unjust that he didn’t have more time at the helm to see his vision play out.

🚫50 Years Anniversary Postponed🚫
Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to postpone our 50th Anniversary celebration planned for this Saturday. While we were holding out hope the event would be able to go ahead the combination of rain this afternoon, the forecast for more rain on Saturday and the need to give notice to our activities and catering meant it was not feasible.
We will work on a new date and communicate it once set.
The scheduled games may still go ahead if the grounds are open.

🖤💚⚽From Humble Beginnings - Celebrating 50 Years of Port United⚽💚🖤
During our 50th year we thought we would take the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane every now and again to take in the proud history of the club.
The only place to start is at the beginning with our very first team way back in 1976. Formed with a team of local Tradies who came together to form a single senior Port United team playing out of Oxley Oval.
Some of these guys you’ll still see around town and down at Dixie Park every now and then.
A huge shout out to our founding members: Dennis Black, Greg Clark, Steve Groth, Kirk Beegle, Bobby Attwells, Hardy Dunkell, Steve Berrigan, Bruce Simpson, Mal Tyson, Eric Hamlyn and John Tyson. Coached by A Watson.
Special mention also to our founding committee executive elected at our first AGM on 8th April 1976: President, John Tyson; Vice President, Bobby Attwells; Secretary & Treasurer, Bruce Miller and Publicity Officer, Greg Clark.
Don’t forget to check out the newspaper clipping from our very first game as a club back on 24th April 1976!
Did we miss something or get something wrong? We are very happy to be corrected in the comments or through an email to [email protected]. We would also welcome you to share any photos or stories with us so we can properly archive our proud club history.

💚🖤⚽Celebrating 50 Years of Port United⚽🖤💚
We invite all current and past Port United members to join us at Dixie Park on Saturday 23rd May to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
There will be plenty of action on the park with our ladies A grade team kicking off at 12.30pm followed by Zone League 2 at 2.10pm and First Grade (ZL1) at 4pm.
We are keen to see as many kids as possible down at the park decked out in their green and white, and have plenty for them to do with facepainting, photobooth, soccer darts, dunk the coach (sorry coaches) and plenty of giveaways - all totally free.
And of course, plenty of treats to keep them going all afternoon with Go Nutz Donuts and Dippin Dots Ice Cream.
In our clubhouse you’ll be able to take a trip down memory lane with an assortment of photo’s, newspaper clippings and playing strips to take in.
Fully licenced catering will be provided by Make a Difference Foundation, so you’ll be able to grab a bite to eat and a drink or two, maybe 3 for some!
It’s shaping up as a great day and a fantastic opportunity for our oldest of members to come together with our newest of members to celebrate 50 years of Port United soccer and launch us into the next 50!
Look forward to seeing you all there!
