📣 2026 NATIONAL CARNIVAL GUIDELINES NOW AVAILABLE

The 2026 Guidelines for Competing in AFL Masters National Carnivals are now available on the AFL Masters website.

All players, coaches, team managers, officials and state representatives are encouraged to read the guidelines ahead of the 2026 National Carnival in Newcastle.

The document includes important information relating to player eligibility, team participation, competition requirements and National Carnival expectations.

IMPORTANT CARNIVAL REGISTRATION UPDATE

Last weekend, the AFL Masters Board and State Presidents met in Melbourne to review carnival registrations and confirm team nominations for Newcastle 2026.

We have now reached 1,300 registered players, with many teams already at capacity—well ahead of the original 31 July registration cut-off.

While registrations currently remain open, PlayHQ registrations will be frozen from 5pm this Sunday to allow the Board and States to review numbers and finalise team compositions.

Teams that still require additional players will be identified, allowing States to support any last-minute registrations where places remain available. With limited game slots, grounds and resources, team numbers must now be carefully managed.

Our goal is to have all teams finalised by 31 July so work can continue on:

🏉 Divisions and fixtures
🏉 Player permits
🏉 Ground allocations
🏉 Final team planning

If you attempt to register and receive a “team locked” message, please contact your State representative, who can add you to the appropriate waitlist.

With registrations filling earlier each year, players are strongly encouraged to register early for future carnivals to give themselves the best opportunity to wear their State colours.

There might be no junior footy this upcoming weekend, however our Masters team is hosting Balmain AFC Masters at Rofe Park on Sunday commencing at 12pm.

Superb games again! The iconic FNF at Quakers Hill for NorthWest Sydney Redbacks AFL Masters & fellow friends on Friday.

Then Saturday, Macarthur Wombats - Footy for Fun and Blue Mountains AFL will be stretching their legs around the large expanse and spectacular development of Monarch Oval.

Fantastic seeing Hornsby Berowra Eagles AFL Club getting into more & more. This week on their traditional Sunday with Balmain AFC Masters.
