The 2026 Botswana Ladies Open has produced a very special milestone.

Congratulations to Keisha Wilsthire, winner of the Championship Division, who has earned her maiden World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) following her outstanding performance at the tournament.

Keisha's victory over 54 holes, finishing on 227, has now opened the door to the international amateur golf arena and places her among the growing number of players from Botswana competing for recognition on the global stage.

This is more than a tournament victory.

It is the beginning of a new chapter in Keisha's golfing journey and a powerful demonstration of what opportunities like the Botswana Ladies Open can create for emerging talent.

Botswana golfer Mowana Chokwe has been selected to join the R&A Africa High Performance Programme, which gets underway in less than a week at Royal Johannesburg Golf Club in South Africa.

Chokwe is among four golfers chosen for the latest intake of the programme, alongside Mwathi Gicheru of Kenya, Anthony Otukei of Uganda, and Munesu Chimhini of Zimbabwe.

The R&A Africa High Performance Programme is designed to identify and develop some of the continent's most promising amateur golfers. Participants receive elite coaching, sports science support, fitness training, mental performance guidance, and competition planning aimed at helping them progress to the highest levels of the sport.
The initiative forms part of The R&A's broader commitment to growing golf across Africa and creating pathways for talented players to compete successfully on the international stage.

For Botswana, Chokwe's selection represents another significant milestone for the development of golf in the country and provides an opportunity for one of its leading young players to train in a world-class high-performance environment.
