Billet families play a huge role in helping our players succeed both on and off the ice by providing a safe, welcoming home during the hockey season.

Billet families receive:
• $700 monthly per player
• 2 complimentary season passes
• Access to team banquets & functions
• Opportunity to build lifelong relationships and memories

Our players are independent and provide their own transportation.

The Athabasca Rivermen are proud to announce Konstantin “Kostya” Los as the organization’s new Head Coach & General Manager for the 2026/2027 season.

Kostya brings a strong hockey background, leadership, and a modern approach to player development and team culture. His passion for the game, understanding of today’s players, and commitment to building a competitive program make him an exciting addition to the Rivermen organization.

The team is also excited to welcome Lexi Lawrence as Director of Hockey Operations. Lexi will play a key support role within the organization, assisting with team operations, player support, recruiting, and day to day management behind the scenes.

Together, they are committed to building a culture centered around development, accountability, and success both on and off the ice.

Please join us in welcoming Gillian as our Billet Coordinator for the upcoming season!!

Gillian moved to Athabasca in the summer of 2023 and quickly became involved in the community through the Rivermen by opening her home to our players. After a successful first season supporting both the team and its athletes, she brings valuable experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for player development into this role.

As Billet Coordinator, Gillian is committed to ensuring every player feels at home from the moment they arrive in Athabasca. She will serve as a key resource for both billet families and players’ parents, fostering a supportive, family-oriented environment built on trust, communication, and teamwork.

We are excited to have Gillian in this role and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make within our organization and community. 🏒

Another terrible tragedy felt across the hockey world! Our hearts go out to the families, friends and all those affected by this loss. The hockey world lost two more and we stand together in support.

Danica Hills, 18, and her best friend and teammate Kayla Peacock, 17, tragically lost their lives after being struck by a semi-truck while driving home from hockey practice earlier this week.

Both were residents of Hinton, Alberta. RCMP say road conditions are believed to have been a factor in the collision.

After a hard-fought battle in Game 1, the boys are ready to dig in, play Rivermen hockey, and defend home ice. Playoff energy is different… louder, faster, and everything is on the line.

Breaking and unfortunate news as Hinton encountered mechanical issues with their bus and are unable to travel to Athabasca for today’s game! As such this concludes the regular season! Playoffs start next weekend! Stay tuned for more details.
