Blood: Mother of Qi
In Chinese Medicine, blood is more than substance — it is nourishment, softness, rootedness, and the gentle home of the Shen. Governed by the Heart and supported by the harmony of many organs, blood holds both vitality and spirit in the body. When blood is abundant, the mind feels settled, the body feels supported, and the spirit has a place to rest.
We will begin by sharing a warm blood-nourishing tea and reflecting on the energetics of blood in daily life — how it shapes our sleep, emotions, and sense of connection. From there, we will move through a grounding Qigong practice designed to gently cultivate circulation, soften stagnation, and support the organs most intimately connected to the creation, storage, and movement of blood.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice to cultivate health, vitality, and longevity. Qi is universal energy, and gong means work. Through breath, movement, and visualization, we work with our qi to cultivate abundant reserves and promote healthy flow. Active movements are typically performed standing; they are low-impact and slow-moving, and they encompass the Taoist philosophy of wu wei – effortless action.

Mission studio will be closed Sunday, June 7th for the Calgary Lilac Festival.
If you've ever tried to get in or out of Mission on festival day, you know the drill. Between street closures, parking, and the general chaos of the street market, getting to the studio will be impossible. Rather than have you fight through all of that, we've decided to close for the day and let you enjoy the festivities (or avoid them entirely).
The good news: our Inglewood location will be running its full schedule of classes that day. If you want to keep your Sunday practice going, sign up for a class there.
We'll be back in Mission on Monday, June 8th ready to go. Thanks for your understanding, and enjoy the weekend!

This Friday, June 5th, join Rachel Neyens for her workshop The Practice of Self Compassion alongside Kayla Yuzdepski 🤍
A supportive 2-hour yoga workshop designed to help you cultivate greater self-acceptance and kindness toward yourself. We will explore the foundations of self-compassion—mindfulness, common humanity, and positive self-talk. This nourishing experience includes gentle yoga and meditation to connect breath and body, practices to observe thoughts with curiosity rather than judgment, rituals of letting go and calling in, and a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra to help integrate a sense of rest and self-love. Leave feeling grounded, restored, and more connected to yourself with a renewed sense of compassion and understanding. 🧘♀️✨

A step in any direction, is the right direction.
Movement creates momentum, and sometimes it takes a first step, a roll of the dice, to push your ideas, focus, and dreams into motion. Remember that you are the focus, and your choice is what keeps you connected. You are the driver, you are the master. Stop gifting those roles to people who have their own path to create.
To be present is to be where your feet are, not to not get lost in keeping them there, almost stuck... you stand anywhere too long and you begin to sink, even if in the smallest of increments. Be where you are without the pressure to be better, more, or different. Grant yourself permission to mess up, to be as messy as you can be, in the pursuit of your vision. The best way to learn is to challenge the parts of you that are scared to try but do it anyway.
Growth can happen even when your plans aren't going the way you thought they would, and they usually don't. Shift your attention to how you can feel into things and how you can sort yourself out, even when it feels hard. Challenge isn't the absence of confidence but the opportunity to pull it out of yourself.
Your next step might be the one that changes everything.
So take it, do the thing, make the move, and trust that you will find your way.
