Strength training is one of the best ways to maintain muscle, stay resilient, and keep doing the activities you love as the years add up. If you’re a cross-country skier, cyclist, hiker, or runner looking for smart, supportive training, come lift with a great group this summer.

* Program designed by an experienced Kinesiologist specializing in strength & conditioning for athletes of all ages
* Train with a friendly group in Calgary (WinSport) or Canmore (Bill Warren Training Centre)
* Group sessions: Tuesday evenings, weekly from now to the end of August
* Plus a simple home workout so you can complete a second session on your own each week
* $275 for new members

Huge congratulations to our Bow Valley Nordic team! 🇳🇴 Yesterday our athletes took on the legendary Birken Birkebeinerrennet in Norway -- 53 km of stunning scenery, 10,000 lycra-clad skiers, and some seriously challenging warm, wet snow.

Grip was elusive, double poling was relentless, and there was plenty of herringboning, scraping, and re waxing along the way. Type 2 or Type 3 fun? 😅 Either way, smiles said it all at the finish.

Kudos to everyone for a season of dedicated training, countless kilometres of preparation, and for conquering one of the world’s most iconic xc ski races. Well done! 👏

After 11 weeks of refining our technique, meeting new people, and skiing the trails together, our Discover Masters group wrapped things up yesterday with a fun photo scavenger hunt. There were lots of laughs, amazing photos of elusive clues, and plenty of skiing. And we can’t forget the special treats at the end! 🍪🍪

Were these skiers inspired by the recent success of our Olympic cross country ski and biathlon teams? Whatever the reason, we all had a lot of fun at the Try Biathlon event last night! Thanks to the coaches of the Alberta Biathlon Club for showing us the ropes. And kudos to everyone who came out!

The Bow Valley Nordic team was in high spirits at the Kananaskis Cookie Loppet this weekend! Congratulations to all members who conquered the 42k or 24k courses – and an extra round of applause for our podium finishers! 👏 🏅Special mention to our multi-talented coach Jenia who wowed us not only on skis but also with her stunning artwork. 🎨

Thank you to the amazing volunteers at Foothills Nordic Ski Club for hosting another top-notch event. We'll be back next year!

Huge thanks to all the participating clubs and skiers who made our Masters Cup events this season such a blast – you brought the energy, the camaraderie, and the true spirit of xc skiing in the Bow Valley. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
